Top 5 Pitchers in the Class of 2022

While the top 10 overall baseball players as ranked by Perfect Game have always included their fair share of pitchers annually, there are multiple this year, especially left-handed pitchers. Here is a look at the top 5 pitchers in the Class of 2022, which includes one of the highest rated high school pitchers in recent memory. 

RHP Dylan Lesko – Buford, GA

Undoubtedly the top right-hander in the Class of 2022 is Dylan Lesko, a native of Buford, Georgia, who is currently regarded as the top overall pitcher and the No. 3 overall player in the country by Perfect Game. 

The Vanderbilt commit dominated the high school game for Buford during the 2021 season, being named the 2021 Gatorade National High School Player of the Year and displaying his electric fastball, curveball, and changeup. 

Also a storied player on the travel baseball scene, Lesko has made a career 39 All-Tournament teams, is a seven-time MVPitcher, and won 21 team championships at Perfect Game events.

LHP Jackson Ferris – Mount Airy, NC

Arguably the top southpaw is Jackson Ferris, a native of Mount Airy, North Carolina, who is rated as the No. 6 overall player in the country by Perfect Game. 

A current commit to Ole Miss, one of Ferris’s best tools is his command; he has shown an ability to consistently throw strikes with his fastball, curveball, and changeup. 

The left-hander attends IMG Academy (FL) for high school baseball, but recently played travel baseball with Canes National. 

RHP Brock Porter – Milford, MI

The No. 7 overall player in the country by Perfect Game is Brock Porter, arguably the top pitcher with the highest velocity in this class. A native of Milford, Michigan, Porter displays an electric fastball that flirts with triple-digits and has one of the best changeups in this class. A current commit to Clemson, the right-hander recently played with Canes National also. 

LHP Tristan Smith – Chesnee, SC

Another player who has played with Canes National, Tristan Smith is a native of Chesnee, South Carolina. The left-hander has one of the best curveballs in this entire class combined with an impressive fastball. He has thrown over 50 innings on the Perfect Game scene over the years, recording over 100+ strikeouts. 

Currently committed to Clemson, Smith attends Boiling Springs High School where he is currently rated as the No. 8 overall player in the class by Perfect Game.

LHP Brandon Barriera – Hollywood, FL

One of fastest rising pitchers in the class is Brandon Barriera, a left-hander from Hollywood, Florida. Barriera displays a sinking mid-90s fastball, as well as a solid slider that he has showcased at recent Perfect Game events. 

Currently committed to Vanderbilt, the southpaw attends American Heritage High School and has played travel baseball with Cannons Baseball.
