Florida High School Boys Basketball Top 25: Classes 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A

Update 3/6/23 – Final

After a thrilling week of games, our 2023 Florida high school boys basketball Top 25 rankings receive their final update of the season, with six of seven state champions finishing the year ranked.

As with our final girls’ rankings, Montverde Academy finishes in the stop spot here, while Class 7A state champion Miami Columbus is not far behind at No. 2. The six remaining state champions, as well as their final ranking, are as follows: 6A Dwyer (No. 4), 5A Belen Jesuit (No. 12), 4A Mater Lakes Academy (No. 6), 3A Riviera Prep (No. 7), 2A Sagemont (No. 9), 1A Williston (NR).

The latest update of our Florida high school boys basketball rankings comes only days before the regional semifinal round of the playoffs and features two new teams entering the Top 25 as a result of South Plantation and Berkeley Prep falling out. Those two teams are 2A’s Victory Christian ranked at No. 24 and 5A’s Suncoast ranked at No. 25.

Victory Christian, which becomes the third Class 2A team to be ranked, is coming off a strong last two weeks, which was headlined by a big 56-53 win over No. 4 ranked Olympia. Suncoast, which is only the second team from Class 5A ranked, also impressed by winning the Class 5A-District 14 title.

The final update of our 2023 Florida Classes 1A-7A high school boys basketball rankings before the playoffs begin features three teams making their debut, along with three teams – Riviera Prep, Wekiva, and DME Academy – seeing significant rises. Miami Palmetto and Berkeley Prep begin the week in the Nos. 24 and 25 spots, respectively, while Class 6A’s South Plantation sits all the way up at No. 15 after a two-week span that included noteworthy wins over a pair of teams that were previously ranked in the 10-20 range, St. Thomas Aquinas and Cypress Bay.

The latest edition of our 2023 Florida high school boys basketball rankings for Classes 1A-7A brings a few noteworthy takeaways, arguably the biggest of which is the rise of Class 4A’s Mater Lakes Academy. Climbing five spots to No. 14, the Bears had an impressive last two weeks on the hardwood, which included wins over a pair of ranked teams, Winter Haven and Riviera Prep. One new team, Class 5A’s Belen Jesuit, enters the Top 25, with the Wolverines sitting at the No. 25 spot. Belen Jesuit’s biggest win in the last two weeks was also against a ranked team, Cypress Bay.

Beginning this week, we are combining our two rankings for 2023 Florida high school boys basketball into one that encompasses Classes 1A-7A. As with previous rankings this season, updates will come every other week and will alternate between boys and girls Top-25s.

In this week’s update, Montverde Academy holds the No. 1 spot, with 7A’s Miami Columbus and IMG Academy rounding out the top three. Almost every classification is represented in these 2023 Florida high school boys basketball rankings, with Classes 1A and 5A the lone groups not to have at least one team on the list.
