Which Top Class of 2022 Prospects are Committed to Vanderbilt?

One of the most successful collegiate baseball programs across the last decade has been the Vanderbilt Commodores. A span that includes national championships, numerous College World Series appearances, and countless MLB Draft picks, Vanderbilt is undoubtedly one of the top programs in college baseball today. 

When looking ahead to future classes for the Commodores, there are currently eight Class of 2022 prospects ranked in the top 100 for the upcoming MLB Draft by MLB Pipeline that are currently committed to Vanderbilt. Here is a look at who those eight prospects are from the Commodores loaded class.

RHP Dylan Lesko – Buford, GA

Arguably the top overall pitcher available in the 2022 MLB Draft, Lesko is coming off a phenomenal 2021 season. The right-hander became the first junior to ever be named the Gatorade National Player of the Year, posting an 11-0 record with a 0.35 ERA and 112 strikeouts. 

OF Druw Jones – Wesleyan, GA

The son of former Atlanta Braves star Andruw Jones, Jones is considered by MLB Pipeline as the No. 1 player in the 2022 Draft. He is an exciting outfielder with five-tool potential. 

LHP Brandon Barriera – American Heritage, FL

A 6-foot-1 left-hander, Barriera has some of the best pure stuff of any pitcher in the 2022 Draft, as well as in the conversation for the best southpaw in the country.

LHP Noah Schultz – Oswego East, IL

One of the tallest prospects in the 2022 MLB Draft at 6-foot-9, Schultz owns an impressive three-pitch mix, led by one of the best slider’s among any pitcher in the country.

RHP Andrew Dutkanych – Brebeuf Jesuit, IN

Arguably the top player from the state of Indiana, Dutkanych displays an impressive four-pitch mix, and could be an impact pitcher for Vanderbilt in 2023 if he chooses to go the collegiate route.

3B Sal Stewart – Westminster Christian, FL

The Westminster Christian standout is one of the top power hitters in the country, and should rank among the nation’s leaders in home runs once again during the 2022 season.

OF Ryan Clifford – Pro5 Academy, NC

An outfielder who displays impressive offensive abilities at the plate, Clifford will likely be an impact player for the Commodores next season if he doesn’t turn pro.

SS RJ Austin – Pace Academy, GA

A player who has the ability to multiple positions at the next level goes to the Pace Academy. The Georgia standout has exciting hitting abilities to pair with some of the best athleticism and defense in the country.
