The Top Outfielder in Each High School Class
When looking at the current landscape of high school and travel baseball, the top talent at one position in-particular sticks out above the rest – outfield.
Each high school class has an outfielder that you could certainly argue is the clear-cut No. 1 option at the position. Here is a look at who those four players are, each of whom are rated as the top outfielder in their respective class.
2022 – Elijah Green (Windermere, FL)
The likely favorite to be selected No. 1 overall in the 2022 MLB Draft, Green is a standout at IMG Academy (FL). Batting .321 this past season with the Ascenders, Green hit six home runs and seven doubles across 25 games, which also included 21 RBI’s, 10 stolen bases, and a phenomenal 1.116 OPS. Also playing with Phillies Scout Team 2022, Green has flashed his impressive defense and elite speed on the travel baseball scene where he is currently rated as Perfect Game’s No. 1 overall player in the Class of 2022.
2023 – Maxwell Clark (Franklin, IN)
Also rated by Perfect Game as the No. 1 overall player in the Class of 2023, Clark is a two-way star at Franklin Community High School (IN). Appearing in 29 games last season, Clark slashed .450/.612/.787 at the plate with six home runs, 30 RBI’s, and 31 stolen bases, as well as posting a 6-0 record with a 0.84 ERA on the mound. Clark most-recently played with Indiana Bulls 16U Black.
2024 – Derek Curiel (West Covina, CA)
Curiel is also rated as the No. 1 overall player in the Class of 2024 by Perfect Game where he had a phenomenal season at Orange Lutheran (CA), as well as with USA Prime National. Appearing in 26 games as a freshman, Curiel batted .318 at the plate with 16 RBI’s, as well as stealing 14 bases. The 2020 PG 14U Player of the Year, is undoubtedly the top outfielder in the Class of 2024.
2025 – Konnor Griffin (Florence, MS)
Rated the top overall player in the Class of 2025 by Perfect Game, Griffin attends Jackson Prep (MS). Playing with Knights Knation, Griffin has already collected some accolades on the travel baseball scene that include the 13U Two-Way Player of the Year, as well as 14U Five-Tool Player. Griffin did appear in three games at Jackson Prep this past season in which he scored two runs and stole a base.
