If you have either watched or kept-up with the 2022 college baseball season so far, you’ll likely know that there have been few teams more-impressive than the top-ranked Texas Longhorns. A team loaded with talent and depth in both the lineup and rotation, where did some of the top current Texas Baseball stars play their high school and travel baseball?
Murphy Stehly
Currently leading Texas Baseball in hitting, Stehely attended Santa Fe Christian High School in Carlsbad, CA where the now redshirt senior was a First-Team All-Conference selection. Stehly also played with the San Diego Show, and was rated Perfect Game’s No. 64 shortstop in California for the Class of 2017.
Tristan Stevens
A standout pitcher for the Longhorns, Stevens attended Kickapoo High School in Springfield, MO where the right-hander was a three-year starter. Striking out a combined 90 batters across 60 innings as a junior and senior, Stevens did not allow an earned run as a junior, while posting a 1.75 ERA as a senior.
Eric Kennedy
One of the Top 100 players in Florida for the Class of 2018, Kennedy played with the Florida Burn, as well as at Calvary Christian Academy where the outfielder was a four-year starter, earning multiple honors during that span including MaxPreps First Team All-American.
Douglas Hodo III
Hodo attended Boerne High School in Boerne, TX where he ranked second in Texas high school baseball history with 106 stolen bases for his career, along with many other accolades. One of the Top 70 overall players in the state of Texas for the Class of 2019, Hodo also played with the South Texas Sliders.
Trey Faltine
Faltine started for four seasons at Travis High School in Richmond, TX, earned multiple accolades while seeing time at multiple different positions. A Top 100 overall player in the Class of 2019, as well as the No. 6 player in the state of Texas according to Perfect Game, Faltine also saw time with Banditos Scout Team.
Pete Hansen
The star left-hander played his high school baseball at Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, CA where Hansen saw time at multiple positions. A Top 100 player in the state of California for the Class of 2019, Hansen also saw time with Norcal on the travel baseball circuit.
Silas Ardoin
Ardoin attended Sam Houston High School in Louisiana where he turned in a phenomenal senior season batting .440 with 40 RBI’s. Receiving numerous accolades including a high school Gold Glove, the star catcher was also ranked by Perfect Game at the No. 9 overall player in the state of Louisiana.
