Key Roster Losses
Milton will miss their leading rusher from last year in Bentley Hickman. He was a workhorse of a running back, rushing for 1,313 yards on 177 carries and 16 touchdowns for the season. Hickman is now at Morehouse after signing with the Maroon Tigers following last season.
He’ll be joined at Morehouse by Eagles teammate and former receiver Ayden Williams.
Linebacker and team captain Billy Weivoda will be missed after a stellar defensive career at Milton. He leaves Milton with 149 career tackles, including 10 ½ sacks in his junior and senior seasons. He signed with Iowa.
Weivoda and former teammate Walker Davis were selected as Academic All-Americans.
Other standouts whose absence will be felt at Milton this year are long snapper Graham Coady, safety Lawson Estes, linebacker Tristan Lester, running back EB Bailey, offensive lineman Madden Mones, and defensive lineman Gage Lawrence.
Key Players Returning
Returning to the Eagles this year will be a host of seniors: quarterback Derrick Baker, who is committed to Tennessee; tight end Grant Haviland, who is committed to Vanderbilt; wide receiver Jordan Carrasquillo, who is committed to Indiana; and wide receiver Aedyn Meintzer, who has P4 interest but is not yet committed.
Also returning are junior offensive lineman Josh Evans and sophomore offensive lineman Landon Ghea, both P4 recruits.
Running back Sheldon Atchison was hurt for most of last season, but he is healthy and ready to go, according to head coach Ben Reaves.
“Sheldon will have a monster year,” Reaves said.
Wide receiver Jazz Lewis and offensive lineman Michael Pickard, both juniors, are expected to step up this season.
Key defensive players returning are senior linebacker Blaize Battaglia, who is committed to Boston College; senior defensive lineman Roman Tumminia; junior defensive back Keelan Wonsley, a P4 recruit; and junior Christian Edwards.
Others expected to step up this year are senior outside linebackers Jarrison de Jesus and Mikey Dircks, senior edge rusher Quentavious Price, junior defensive back Deuntrey Allen ,and sophomore defensive back Malik Rolle. Both Allen and Rolle are P4 recruits.
What to Expect From the Milton Eagles in 2026
Reaves will have a 2026 Milton team that is as talented as any he has had since taking over as head coach.
Derrick Baker is a top-five quarterback, landing at No. 3 in ITG Next’s recent list of top 10 quarterbacks entering the 2026 Georgia high school football season. Baker will have a host of talent surrounding him on the offense both in the skill positions and on the offensive line.
Ryan Jung, one of the nation’s top kickers, joined Milton this offseason after transferring from IMG Academy.
Milton will be one of the favorites to return to the state finals in Class 6A in 2026.
