GEORGIA MATCH Helps Houston County, Warner Robins Students Prepare for College

Students at Houston County High School and Warner Robins High School face many decisions when it comes to what they will do after graduation.

Making the transition from high school can be intimidating as seniors look toward their future. What comes next? Is it a four-year college or university, or should they pursue a technical college education that could prepare them to enter the workforce sooner?

GEORGIA MATCH Helps Houston County Students Explore College Options

Helping students prepare for the next chapter of their lives is what GEORGIA MATCH is all about. The name says it all. GEORGIA MATCH helps seniors at high schools across Georgia, identify colleges and universities where they meet initial academic eligibility requirements based primarily on their high school HOPE GPA.

Houston County School District Superintendent Dr. Ricky Rogers said GEORGIA MATCH gives students another resource as they consider their options after high school.

“GEORGIA MATCH gives our students at Houston County High School and Warner Robins High School a great opportunity to see that college is within their reach,” Rogers said. “The program helps students discover colleges and universities in Georgia where they already meet most of the admission requirements. It makes the college application process easier and opens doors for our students who may not have considered college as an option. Using GEORGIA MATCH helps us make sure every student knows they have opportunities beyond high school and prepare them for their future.”

The process begins well before students walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. School counselors begin working with students during their junior year to lay the groundwork for their post-graduation plans.

GEORGIA MATCH then gives eligible seniors a list of Georgia colleges and universities that match their academic records. Students can use that information as they consider factors such as location, cost, academic programs, and other priorities when deciding what path to pursue after high school.
