Preseason – Updated 8/9/2026
Here are ITG Next’s 2026 Georgia high school football preseason rankings for the Private classification (Classes 2A-4A).
After an uncharacteristic losing season in 2024 that saw the Spartans finish with just four wins, Greater Atlanta Christian returned to their winning ways in 2025 by rebounding to finish 10-3 and advance to the Private classification quarterfinals.
As teams across Georgia prepare for the opening game of the regular season, we have Greater Atlanta Christian as our No. 1 team heading into Week 1 of the 2026 season. Greater Atlanta Christian returns its top three rushers, top receiver, top defensive player, and quarterback Michael Miller from last season’s 10-3 team.
Mount Vernon is at No. 2 as the Mustangs return starting quarterback Noah Dungan and a trio of the team’s top receivers from last year.
Calvary Day and Christian Heritage are ranked No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, in the preseason poll.
They are followed by the two true blue-blood programs in the Georgia private school football landscape that have dominated the past few years. That would be Prince Avenue Christian, who won the Class 1A state championship in 2020, 2022, and 2023, along with Hebron Christian, winners of consecutive state titles in 2024 and 2025.
Holy Innocents’, Savannah Christian, Lovett, and Wesleyan round the top 10 at No. 7, No. 8, No. 9 ,and No. 10, respectively.
