2025-26 Georgia High School Boys Basketball Rankings: All Classifications

Top 25 Georgia High School Boys Basketball Teams Across All Classifications

Updated 3/4/2026

Since the last update to our 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification rankings, two rounds of the GHSA boys basketball playoffs have been completed, with the third round, or Elite Eight, set for March 4. This poll will reflect the teams still alive as they prepare for the quarterfinals.

There were a few surprises in the first two rounds of the playoffs, with a top-five team in our poll eliminated in a shocking defeat.

The defending Class 3A state champion, Sandy Creek, is out after falling to Harlem in a close 42-41 contest.

Other teams that were upset include Westover, who lost to Cross Creek, and Carver-Columbus, who had been ranked No. 13 and were upset by Therrell 65-55. No. 21 Seminole County lost to Warren County by a point 47-46, and Westminster, the No. 24 team, was eliminated by Jonesboro 62-58. Walton, previously ranked No. 25, lost in the opening round of the playoffs to Hillgrove.

Wheeler, the defending Class 6A state champion, is looking strong as it looks to take home another Class 6A state title. Gainesville and St. Pius also look to stay on the path to a state championship for their respective programs.

Six new teams earned their way into our top 25 rankings with their play in the state tournament: Hughes, Harlem, Columbia, Bowdon, Pace, and Walker.

The Georgia boys high school basketball regular season has come to a close, and teams will now head to the state tournament in an effort to keep their postseason hopes alive. However, a few of the teams in our 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification rankings have their sights set firmly on the big prize that goes to the last team standing at the end of the playoffs.

Wheeler, the defending Class 6A state champion, is looking quite strong as they look to take home the trophy once again. The Wildcats have been solid all year long but have played especially well to end the season. That includes back-to-back 23-point victories over a 22-6 Walton squad and a 19-win Cherokee team.

Gainesville, St. Pius, Sandy Creek, Rabun County, Chattahoochee County, Holy Innocents, and KIPP Atlanta are all going to make a run at a state championship in each of their respective classes, but as we have seen many times before when it comes to the postseason, someone comes up and surprises the field.

Who will be this year’s surprise and make a run at a state championship?

There is an argument to be made for any one of the teams ranked in our top 10, and maybe even the top 15.

Consider: Fourteen of the top 15 ranked teams won their region and will enter the state tournament as a high seed.

No. 15 Hillgrove lost to No. 9 McEachern in the Region 3-6A tournament championship.

In that same tournament, Pebblebrook lost to Hillgrove and finished third in the region. They’ll face the Cherokee Warriors in the opening round of the state tournament.

No. 7 Holy Innocents and No. 8 KIPP Atlanta played each other for the Region 5-2A championship, and the higher-ranked Golden Bears came out on top in a 10-point win 56-46.

Westminster, who was 21-3 heading into their region final, was upset by unranked Cambridge in the Region 6-4A tournament title game by 15 points 62-47. The Wildcats fall in this week’s updated rankings to No. 24.

North Cobb Christian will enter the state tournament as one of the state’s hottest teams, winners of 17 in a row to end the season. They move up five spots in this week’s rankings to No. 20.

Model loses to Darlington for the fourth time this year. In fact, the Blue Devils’ only losses all season were to Darlington. Model defeated everyone else on the schedule for their 20 wins this season.

The Tigers move into the top 25 this week, while the Blue Devils fall out of the rankings.

Baldwin defeats Cross Creek in their region final, and the teams swap places in this week’s top 25 rankings.

Here is the complete 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification top 25 rankings.

  1. Wheeler (6A)
  2. Gainesville (5A)
  3. St. Pius X (4A)

Updated 2/17/2026

The top 10 in our 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification rankings remains the same as last week as region tournaments are currently wrapping up at the time of this poll.

Wheeler remains our No. 1 ranked team but will be coming up on one of their toughest tests of the season with a Region 5-6A semifinal matchup with Walton. Both teams enter the matchup at 21-5, but the Wildcats of head coach Larry Thompson have swept the two-game regular season series with relative ease. Wheeler won the first meeting between the two teams in December by 34 points 83-49, while the second matchup was a bit closer with Wheeler winning by 14 points 66-52.

Wheeler has held the top spot in our all-classification top 25 since Week 1, and the Wildcats are looking to repeat as the Class 6A state champions.

Along with the two wins against Walton, Wheeler has rolled through the region in the regular season undefeated and are hoping to finish their perfect postseason tournament run in the semifinal game and, if they are successful, in the region finale against the yet-to-be-determined opponent.

The Gainesville Red Elephants are hoping to stay unbeaten as they begin play in their Region 7-5A tournament. Gainesville has ended the regular season with 25 wins in 25 regular season games. They’ll start things off in the region against Lanier, then hope to go into the rest of their postseason still undefeated, with the hopes of running the table through the 5A state playoffs.

St. Pius X is also undefeated and will enter the Region 5-4A tournament against a very solid Marist squad who is 18-8 at the time of writing. In fact, the region boasts four of the better teams in the state including St. Pius, Southwest DeKalb, Tucker, and the War Eagles.

Sandy Creek and Rabun County are really playing well heading into region play, but one of the most surprising teams to keep an eye on is unranked Therrell High School from Class 2A. The Panthers upset our seventh-ranked team, Holy Innocents, 76-70 after the Golden Bears had won their previous 13 games of the season.

Holy Innocents will have a chance to redeem themselves against Therrell in the region tournament.

Speaking of region tournaments, Woodward Academy won their Region 4-5A tournament championship game in a thrilling overtime affair over Decatur 78-73 and will enter the 5A state tournament as a No. 1 seed red hot, winners of 11 straight games. Woodward jumps two spots in our updated poll this week.

Model and Walton fall one spot this week but appear to be safe as one of the top 25 teams in the state.

Here is the complete 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification top 25 rankings.

Updated 2/10/2026

The top three teams remain locked in to their same positions as our previous 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification top 25 rankings. There’s little room for argument as the top three have combined for a 70-5 overall record, with two of the three teams still undefeated as they wrap up their regular seasons this week.

Wheeler started the season as our No. 1 team, and the defending Class 6A state champions have remained in the top spot in each of our subsequent rankings.

The Wildcats will head into their final regular season game at Marietta with a 20-5 record and riding a six-game winning streak. The Wildcats will also be looking to end the regular season with a perfect region mark in Region 5-6A. They are 11-0 heading into the final region matchup against the Blue Devils, and win or lose, coach Larry Thompson’s team is our No. 1 team as they get ready for the postseason.

The Gainesville Red Elephants are making a pretty good argument for the No. 1 spot in Georgia’s top classification — and any classification, really. They are 24-0 at the time of preparing this updated ranking. They’ll have a good test in their final regular season matchup of the year with a home game against the 20-win Johns Creek Gladiators.

Gainesville remains right on the heels of Wheeler at No. 2.

The Class 4A St. Pius X Golden Lions have wrapped up an undefeated season and they too have a legitimate argument to be considered the top team in the state.

Not only have the Golden Lions dominated their opponents all season long with 25 consecutive wins from the very start, but they have ended the season by winning their final five regular season games by an average of 36 points.

While there is no suspense with our top three teams, there has been a bit of an overhaul of our top 25 this week, especially within the top half of our ranking, with several programs being rewarded for their stellar play.

Among the biggest changes are teams moving into the top 10 this week.

That includes Sandy Creek moving to the No. 4 spot, and Rabun County making a huge leap to the No. 5 spot this week, riding an eight-game winning streak heading down the stretch and led by the play of recent ITG Next top performer Huey Blalock.

Chattahoochee County moves up to the No. 6 spot this week, and Holy Innocents moves into the top 25 this week, landing at No. 7.

Class 2A’s KIPP Atlanta continues their surge up the rankings, moving from the No. 15 team to the No. 13 spot last week, and now this week they come in at No. 8.

McEachern and Alexander round out our top 10 this week.

Also new to the rankings this week are Model, Walton, Woodward Academy, and North Cobb Christian.

Updated 2/1/2026

Wheeler remains at the top of our updated 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification top 25 rankings, but the Gainesville Red Elephants are making a pretty good case for who the best boys basketball team is in Georgia.

Gainesville continues to impress as they have now won 22 consecutive games to start the season.

Wheeler currently sits at 18-5 overall following a 31-point win over a 15-win Cherokee County squad last Friday. The Wildcats have rebounded nicely after they fell to two out-of-state powerhouses, including an 8-point loss against Tennessee powerhouse Bartlett, followed by a 2-point loss against Missouri’s Logan-Rogersville.

Both Wheeler and Gainesville remain undefeated in their respective region action.

St. Pius X, Carver-Columbus, and Grayson remain locked in to their previous positions in the rankings. Grayson has lost just one game all year and is 18-1 after an 80-53 win over Archer Friday night.

Dacula, which was previously ranked at No. 16, falls out of our top 25 after suffering back-to-back losses against unranked Mill Creek and Collins Hill. Those consecutive losses were also part of a Falcons skid where they lost 3-of-4 games. Their third loss came against Buford in overtime on Jan. 16.

Moving into the vacancy created by Dacula is Milton, who is coming off a big 55-51 win over Johns Creek.

Updated 1/20/2026

Our updated 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification top 25 ranking sees defending Georgia Class 6A state champion Wheeler remain in the same spot they were in our previous poll, which is at the top.

Despite a bit of a rough week playing in the 41st annual Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions in Springfield, Missouri, head coach Larry Thompson’s team remains our No. 1 team.

The annual event in the Show-Me State attracts the very best high school basketball talent in the country, and this year’s lineup of teams was no exception.

Wheeler played Bartlett High School from Memphis on the tournament’s opening night in a battle of nationally ranked top 10 teams. Wheeler came in ranked No. 8 in the country, while the Bartlett Panthers were ranked No. 6 nationally. Wheeler lost the game 58-50 and dropped to the consolation round on day two of the weekend tournament, when Wheeler played local host team Logan-Rogersville.

Whether it was the hometown cooking or the fact that the Wildcats didn’t have to endure the long travel compared to Wheeler’s trip from Georgia to Missouri, Logan-Rogersville handed Wheeler a 66-64 loss. The Wildcats bounced back against the Kickapoo Chiefs from Springfield with a 71-55 win and left Missouri with a 1-2 record in the national showcase tournament.

Despite losing two out of three, Wheeler returned home this past week and played North Cobb in a region matchup, winning 77-68. Wheeler improved to 16-5 on the season and are perfect in Region 5-6A with a 6-0 record in a tight race with Walton, who is 6-1 in the region.

Gainesville continues to impress as they have remained undefeated so far with 20 straight wins to start the season. With just five games remaining in the Red Elephants’ regular season, head coach Charlemagne Gibbons‘ team could finish undefeated as they prepare for postseason play. Gainesville is undefeated in Region 7-5A with a perfect 7-0 record.

While Wheeler and Gainesville retain their rankings from our previous top 25, there were several changes throughout the rest of our poll.

A handful of previously unranked teams debut in the top 25 this week. That includes Carver-Columbus, who enter the poll at No. 4, and Sandy Creek, who enter the poll at No. 7. Other teams who earned a spot in this week’s top 25 are Commerce, Westover, Baldwin, Seminole County, and Rabun County.

Updated 1/8/2026

The 2025-26 basketball season is into its second month, and as teams prepare for the all-important region portion of their season, ITG Next gives you our updated Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification top 25 ranking.

In our preseason ranking, Wheeler was our No. 1 pick heading into the season, and the Wildcats have proven to be the team that we thought they would be as they once again top the poll in our first regular season poll.

The defending Georgia Class 6A state champions are off to a great start with 12 wins in their first 15 games. It’s no surprise that head coach Larry Thompson’s team is off to a fast start. Just as we pointed out in our preseason rankings, the Wildcats have a load of returning talent from last year’s championship squad, led by the state’s top small forward in senior Colben Landrew. The 6-foot-6 four-star recruit recently committed to the UConn Huskies, and so far this year is averaging 7.8 points and five assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the field.

Landrew is hoping to lead his Wheeler team to a second consecutive state championship.

Landrew has plenty of support around him, including junior point guard Kevin Savage and senior forward Jaron Saulsberry, who has committed to Ole Miss.

The surprise team of the first month of the season is the undefeated Gainesville Red Elephants. With 17 consecutive wins to start the season, head coach Charlemagne Gibbons has Gainesville playing as well as anyone in the state. They are coming off a huge win recently over Milton 68-60. Milton had won five in a row before falling to Gainesville, and despite falling to the Red Elephants, head coach Allen Whitehart’s Eagles remain a team to watch heading down the stretch as a top 10 team. Milton currently has a 10-3 overall record.

McEachern’s Indians are our No. 3 team, with their only losses so far coming to top 10 program Alexander, Link Academy of Branson, Missouri, and top-ranked Wheeler. The Indians have proven year over year that they have staying power to keep them in the hunt throughout the season’s ups and downs, and they’re showing that same strength with junior four-star guard Chase Lumpkin leading the charge. Point guard Zach Graves is another junior who has shown he can run the offense in both the halfcourt game and in transition. The Indians stand at 10-3 at the time of our updated ranking.

No surprise that the Grayson Rams are off to a blistering start to the season under head coach Geoff Pierce. He has Grayson off to a 14-1 start in 2026, with some impressive floor leaders including junior Marcus Curry.

St. Pius X is undefeated at the time of our updated poll, with 15 straight wins to start the season. The Golden Lions are led by 6-foot-5 senior shooting guard and Clemson commit Harris Reynolds.

Alexander is currently 12-2 and riding a seven-game winning streak, including a 3-0 start in Region 5-5A. The senior-heavy Cougars are led by Gregory Dunson, who is averaging 20 points per game with 5.8 assists, both team-leading stats so far.

Seniors Jayden Crawford and Christian Moore also are showing a hot hand on offense through the first half of the season.

Other teams to keep an eye on who are part of our top 25 include Westminster, Griffin, and the 15-1 Walton Raiders.

Here is the complete 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball all-classification top 25 rankings.

  1. Wheeler (6A)
  2. Gainesville (5A)
  3. McEachern (6A)
  4. Grayson (6A)

  6. Alexander (5A)

Preseason Rankings

The 2025-26 Georgia high school basketball season is near, exciting fans, coaches, and players statewide. ITG Next proudly presents our 2025-26 preseason top 25 rankings, highlighting the Georgia high school boys basketball programs poised for big impact in 2025. Rankings are based on returning talent, new transfers, last year’s results, and early team outlooks. Get ready for another thrilling season of Georgia high school basketball.

Wheeler is the top team to start the season. Head coach Larry Thompson led the Wildcats to their 10th boys basketball state championship last year, and they enter the 2025-26 season as Class 6A favorites again.

Wheeler returns the state’s top small forward, Colben Landrew, now a senior. Last year, Landrew helped seal the state title by scoring Wheeler’s last 10 points, turning a close contest with Newton into a 61-56 victory and securing the Class 6A championship.

Defending state champion Holy Innocents’ is a team to watch this season. Although the Golden Bears lose one of the nation’s most exciting players in Caleb Wilson as he takes his talents to North Carolina, there’s enough returning talent to keep Holy Innocents’ at the top of the Class 2A rankings and as one of the state’s best overall programs.

Shooting guard Devin Hutcherson and power forward Khalid Worthy are two of the best at their positions, and they’ll assume leadership duties this season for Holy Innocents’ head coach Mario Mays’ squad.

Another Holy Innocents’ player to watch this season is freshman point guard King Araujo. The 6-foot-3, 2029 player is one of the top athletic floor leaders in the state.

McEachern is the No. 3 team heading into the 2025-26 Georgia high school boys basketball season, and Indians head coach Tremayne Anchrum likes what he sees so far as his team prepares for the upcoming season.

“I feel good about our team,” Anchrum said. “We have some solid players that will lead us this season, including a really good guard in Zach Graves, and we also have Mason McMillan returning, and he is a shooter extraordinaire.”

Four-star combo guard Chase Lumpkin, a junior, will be the leader for the Indians this season. He is as talented a player as there is in Georgia, and his style of play impacts both ends of the floor. Lumpkin recently received an offer from the University of Georgia.

Other players Anchrum pointed out are Emmanuel Alofe, a 6-foot-7 junior forward whom the coach says has a 7-foot wingspan and is “super athletic,” and 6-foot-9 freshman guard Alvin Pettaway.

Pace Academy is the No. 4 team in our 2025-26 preseason Georgia high school boys basketball rankings after finishing as the state runner-up in Class 4A last season and ending a run of three straight state finals titles. Head coach Sharman White has overseen one of the most dominant boys basketball teams in the Peach State, and he’ll likely have the Knights right back in the mix once again in 2025-26 with two of the state’s top big men leading the team. Center Jake Agolli and power forward Hayden Clay are among the top at their respective positions in Georgia high school basketball for the 2026 season.

Rounding out the top five is Grayson. The Rams fell a little short last season, one year after winning the Class 6A state championship with one of the most dominating seasons in Georgia high school basketball history.

The Rams’ losses to graduation include strong forward Jacob Wilkins, Amir Taylor, and sharpshooter Chris McLavish. Caleb Holt transferred to Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to finish out his senior season, and his loss is a big one for head coach Geoffrey Pierce and Grayson’s basketball squad. But the Rams will have a combination of seniors and good, young talent that Pierce seems to enjoy building from and succeeding with.

Grayson will be led by a couple of talented combo guard and wing players in junior Marcus Curry Jr., who transferred to Grayson from Grovetown this offseason, and freshman Austin Leonard.

Providing the leadership for Grayson this season will be senior guards Malik Rideout, who transferred from Peachtree Ridge this offseason; Tyler Williams; and Donovan Thomas. Junior Byron Lee is a physical 6-foot-7 forward and guard who will be a great complementary player for the Rams this year.

Rounding out the young but talented roster are freshman Jacori Thompson and sophomore Eli Tillman.

“I think we are a top five team in Class 6A for sure,” Pierce said. “Yes, we are young, but really talented.

A team to watch out for, and just outside the top five, is Alexander. The Cougars return every statistical leader from last season’s Class 5A quarterfinals squad, which won 22 games but ultimately fell to Hughes by 2 points in the third round of the state playoffs.

Coming back to lead the Cougars will be senior point guard Gregory Dunson, who averaged 18 points per game as the team’s floor general in 2024-25.

Senior shooting guard Torian Greene returns, as does power forward and center Christian More, the team’s leading rebounder from a year ago.

Marquise Leslie is a returning senior combo guard and forward who can do it all on the court, as he proved last year, ending the season in the top three of every statistical category for the Cougars. He is a Charleston Southern commit and will be one of the top emerging superstar seniors in the state this season.
