Top 10 Georgia High School Baseball Teams Across All Classifications
Updated 3/20/2025
Before the start of the 2025 season, we released a list of the Top 10 Georgia high school baseball teams to watch. Most teams have just completed the first month of their schedules, so here’s the updated ITG Next 2025 Top 10 Georgia high school baseball team rankings.
1. Etowah (Class 6A)
Preseason Ranking: No. 1
The Etowah Eagles have lived up to our preseason ranking as the state’s top baseball program. They have started strong this year, winning all but one of their first 15 games. The only loss came against North Paulding, who was a Class 6A state finalist in 2024. Etowah still prevailed to win 2-of-3 games in the series.
Etowah head baseball coach Greg Robinson’s powerhouse program is loaded and looking to compete for another state title this season.
They have strength in every area, led by left-handed pitcher Jackson Rose, a senior who is committed to North Carolina, and right-handed pitcher and first baseman Matthew Sharman, a junior who is committed to Georgia.
Etowah’s outfield includes two juniors who are committed to Division I college programs. Deion Cole has committed to Georgia Tech, and Trevor Condon has committed to Tennessee.
Third baseman Colin Anderson, a freshman, has gotten off to a solid start in his first varsity season as one of the Eagles’ leaders at the plate and in the infield.
Keep an eye on Etowah. They are loaded, but they’re in a classification full of talented teams. Baseball is a funny game, and anything can happen.
2. Buford (Class 6A)
Preseason Ranking: No. 2
The Buford Wolves are 12-3 through the first month of the season, and just as we predicted in our 2025 Georgia high school baseball preseason rankings, Buford has relied on production from the top of the order and strong pitching.
Freshman phenom Dexter McCleon Jr. is the top overall prospect in the 2028 Class, and he has displayed that greatness through the first month of the season.
Buford is one of the state’s top baseball programs despite losing their entire 2024 infield to graduation, and head baseball coach Stuart Chester said that’s given his younger players a chance to step up.
“We usually start just one senior, sometimes two,” Chester said. “We lost our entire infield along with our starting catcher and our two top pitchers. Being so young, we have had many players surprise us so far. Our younger players have really stepped up.”
Chester added that the team has a handful of players who are more experienced and providing the necessary leadership for those underclassmen trying to find their roles.
“Cannon Goldin is one of the best players in the state, and he leads us on and off the field,” Chester said. “Then we have Luke Hopper, who has been lights out on the mound with an ERA of .646 with just four walks and 31 strikeouts. Junior Ayden Lockett is having a great season so far too.”
3. Houston County (Class 5A)
Preseason Ranking: No. 3
Houston County has not only arguably the best talent, but with seniors Will Allen and Vick Gann back this season, the Bears have the experience as well.
Houston County head baseball coach Matt Hopkins’ team is 14-3 overall and leads Region 2 in Class 5A with an undefeated region record at 7-0.
Hopkins likes the start his team has gotten off to, especially against top programs.
“We have played some tough competition, and it will get tougher as we build up to region (schedule), so it’s good for us to be tested like this,” Hopkins said. “I’m pleased with where we are so far.”
Hopkins said his team’s pitching has performed well so far, and he credited the pitching staff’s catcher for much of their early success.
“Raymond Byrd has done a fantastic job of handling our staff behind the plate,” Hopkins said of the Houston County catcher.
4. Loganville (Class 5A)
Preseason Ranking: No. 4
The Loganville Red Devils have started off the defense of their 2024 Class 5A state championship with 10 wins through the first 15 games of the 2025 season. Loganville is seeking their fourth consecutive state championship.
Loganville head baseball coach Bran Mills has had solid pitching performances from juniors Jordan Johnson and Jake Boland, and senior Ace Kenny has been a spark plug at the plate so far this year.
5. Pope (Class 5A)
Preseason Ranking: No. 5
The Pope Greyhounds are 13-3 through the first month of the season and retain their No. 5 spot in our 2025 Georgia high school baseball rankings.
Pope head baseball coach Chris Turco said that heading into the season he thought pitching would be his team’s strength.
“So far our pitchers have proven me right,” Turco said. “We have a great one-two punch with right-handed pitcher Ethan Garrett and lefty Nick Bobrowski.”
At the plate, Pope’s offense has been relentless, according to Turco.
“John Stuetzer hits leadoff while playing center field and shortstop,” Turco said.
Stuetzer, a senior, has signed with Florida State.
Garrett has committed to Georgia Southern and will join the Eagles following his high school career.
6. Blessed Trinity (Class 4A)
Preseason Ranking: not ranked
Previously unranked, Blessed Trinity breaks into the Top 10 of our 2025 Georgia high school baseball rankings after a 13-2 start. The Titans also sit atop Region 6 in Class 4A with a 4-0 region record.
Blessed Trinity has one of the toughest schedules in the state. One of their two losses so far this season came against the 2024 Alabama Class 4A state runner-up American Christian Academy Patriots out of Tuscaloosa. The Titans fell to the Patriots by a 9-8 final in extra innings. Blessed Trinity also lost to Walton by one run in the season opener.
7. Lowndes (Class 6A)
Preseason Ranking: No. 9
After starting the season with two straight losses, the Lowndes Vikings bounced back to win 11 of their next 14 games. That includes six wins in seven of their region contests to put Lowndes in first place in Region 1 in Class 6A.
Although the Vikings lost several members of the squad who contributed to their state championship wins in 2023 and 2024, the team welcomed back junior Matthew Kerrigan, an Auburn commit who went out last year due to Tommy John surgery.
Lowndes head baseball coach Ryan Page said that while Kerrigan has not yet pitched, he is one of the top bats on the team so far, along with senior Coleman Lewis and sophomore Heath Davis.
Making up for Kerrigan’s absence on the mound so far this season are Davis, sophomore Brinson Rountree, and senior Garrett Moon. Drew Inman, a senior, is the primary closer for Lowndes.
8. Walton (Class 6A)
Preseason Ranking: not ranked
Walton breaks into the Top 10 of our 2025 Georgia high school baseball rankings, debuting at No. 8. The Raiders are 15-3 on the season and lead top-ranked Etowah in Region 5 in Class 6A by half a game. Walton is 9-1 in region play, while Etowah is 8-1.
Walton is led by leadoff hitter Walker Killimett, a junior who is quite a base-stealing threat for the Raiders.
Pitchers Jacob Saboura, a junior, and Hyland Brown, a senior, have provided Walton with dependable arms to start the season.
9. Central (Carrollton) (Class 4A)
Preseason Ranking: not ranked
The Central (Carrollton) Lions have quietly leapt out to a 17-0 overall record to start the season and an 8-0 region record in Region 3 in Class 4A.
They’ve done it on the backs of a couple of younger players, including freshman Grant Chaffin, who hits in the leadoff spot and gives Central a speedy, contact hitter at the top of the lineup. He’s a true table-setter.
Palmer Beverly, a sophomore, has broken through into the rotation, giving Central head baseball coach Riley Presnell another dependable arm for the Lions.
Can the Lions stay undefeated?
10. Prince Avenue Christian (Class 2A)
Preseason Ranking: not ranked
Another newcomer to our Top 10 2025 Georgia high school baseball rankings is Prince Avenue Christian. The Wolverines are 13-2 on the season, which includes a couple of impressive wins over tough opponents.
Prince Avenue defeated Buford, our No. 2 ranked team, 14-3 in the Southeastern High School Baseball Classic hosted by Buford. Prince Avenue defeated Tallulah Falls 7-0 before completely dominating North Cobb Christian 17-0 in the event’s championship game.
Prince Avenue also scored a 13-5 win over an 11-win Franklin County team this season.
