Top 25 Georgia High School Girls Basketball Teams Across All Classifications
Updated 3/16/2026 – Final
The 2025-26 GHSA girls basketball season wrapped up with a great slate of championship games last week, and with that comes our final Georgia high school girls basketball top 25 rankings.
This year’s state championships included six programs making their first trip to the state finals and 12 programs looking for their first state championship.
There were rematches of last year’s state finals, with Murray County and Hardaway facing each other for a second straight season, along with Hebron Christian and Holy Innocents’ battling it out for the Private classification championship.
In Class 6A, top-ranked North Paulding defeated Grayson 64-58 to put a perfect cap on one of the best seasons in program history. The Lady Wolfpack captured its first state championship with the win. It was a rematch of the 2024 finals, when Grayson defeated the North Paulding.
In Class 5A, Creekview defeated Milton 45-43 to win its first state championship in program history.
In Class 4A, Marist defeated Kell 58-50 to win its second state championship during guard Kate Harpring’s four-year high school career. Harpring stepped up when her team needed her most, scoring 40 points in the championship game. She also became the state’s all-time leading scorer in girls basketball, finishing with 3,435 career points. That surpasses the former record of 3,399 points held by Athens Academy’s Jill Razor, who played from 1994 to 1997.
In Class 3A, Heritage defeated Sandy Creek 65-63 in an overtime thriller.
In Class 2A, Murray County won its first state title in 60 years with a 51-48 win over Hardaway on Saturday in Macon. The game was a rematch of last year’s championship, which Hardaway won. This year’s matchup went to the Murray County Indians.
In Class 1A-Division I, East Laurens captured the girls basketball program’s first state title, and the school’s first state championship in any sport, with a 63-55 win over Elbert County.
In Class 1A-Division II, Wilcox County defeated Washington-Wilkes 48-39.
In the Private classification, Hebron Christian defeated Holy Innocents’ 46-42.

GHSA girls basketball teams have wrapped up the state playoffs, with finals set to begin March 11 at the Macon Centreplex. The Elite Eight and semifinal rounds produced some of the biggest upsets of the 2026 season, including the ouster of a couple of defending state champions, which caused a shake-up to our Georgia high school girls basketball top 25 rankings.
This year’s GHSA girls basketball state championships will include six programs making their first trip to the state finals and 12 programs looking for their first state championship.
Defending Class 5A state champion River Ridge will not have a chance to defend its 2025 championship, as the Lady Knights fell to Creekview 57-50 in an overtime thriller in the Class 5A girls semifinals.
Instead, the Creekview Grizzlies will be playing for their first state championship on March 13. Their opponent will be the Milton Lady Eagles, who knocked off Coffee 59-48 in the other Class 5A semifinal.
North Paulding remains our top team as it heads to the state finals looking for its first state championship in girls basketball. Perhaps a win by the North Paulding girls basketball team will bring a shot of good luck to the West Georgia school.
Neighboring East Paulding will also be making its first trip to a state final as it faces Elbert County on March 13 in Macon.

Georgia girls high school basketball teams are wrapping up the third round of the state playoffs at the time of our latest poll, and several upsets have occurred among ranked teams since we last updated our Georgia high school girls basketball top 25 rankings.
Those teams still remaining will advance to the Final Four in their respective classifications.
The biggest upset came in the second-round contest between the Buford Lady Wolves and Newton Lady Rams.
Buford head coach Gene Durden’s squad had lost only one game all season as they entered the playoff game with Newton. Their only previous defeat had come in Game 2 against Westside of Anderson, South Carolina. The Lady Wolves’ second loss of 2026 brought a magical season to a sooner-than-expected end, as Buford fell 64-59 to end a string of 26 straight wins and their hopes of a first state title since 2020.
Newton enjoyed its upset win over Buford before facing No. 1 North Paulding. Asking for a second straight upset of a top-five team proved too much to ask of the Lady Rams, and top-ranked North Paulding won 58-47.
Another upset includes previously ranked No. 8 Luella, who was upset by Stephenson in the second round 52-50.
Seven additional ranked teams have fallen since our last ranking. Bradwell Institute lost to River Ridge 50-48, and previously ranked No. 15 Lowndes lost a heartbreaker to unranked Campbell 48-56. Previously ranked No. 18 Thomson and No. 19 Marietta each fell in their playoff games. North Oconee lost to Marist 63-49, Fannin County lost to Putnam County 75-36, and previously ranked No. 23 Bremen fell to Heard County in their playoff game.
North Paulding remains the top team in our rankings as it heads to the Final Four. Marist holds at No. 2, and Hebron Christian is still at No. 3 as it heads to the Final Four.
River Ridge, Monroe, and Josey are all moving on in the playoffs, along with Wilcox County and Putnam County, who advances after an impressive 75-36 win over previously ranked No. 22 Fannin County.
Kell and Milton move into the top 10 this week. The Milton Lady Eagles are a team to keep an eye on as they head to the Class 5A Final Four. They have now won 19 of their last 20 games and are looking for their first state championship.
Another team to watch is defending Class 5A state champion River Ridge, who has won 14 of its last 15 games heading into the Final Four.
Ten new teams crack our top 25 this week. Final scores for Washington-Wilkes and Holy Innocents’ were not available at the time of publication.

The Georgia high school girls basketball teams are entering their final week of the regular season as teams wrap up their final few games before preparations begin for region tournaments. With few major upsets, every team in our 2025-26 Georgia high school girls basketball top 25 rankings retains their position from the previous poll.
The biggest upset came with a rare loss by the top-ranked North Paulding Lady Wolfpack. Marietta shocked everyone by defeating North Paulding 50-48 last week. That snapped an 18-game win streak that North Paulding had been riding since Nov. 22, 2025.
North Paulding got right back to their winning ways last Friday with a big 20-point win over Etowah. That gave head coach Wes Willis and his North Paulding team 21 wins on the season against just two losses.
North Paulding has only two regular season games remaining, with road trips to Wheeler and North Cobb, before beginning postseason play.

The Georgia girls high school basketball teams are deep into the final games of their 2026 regular season schedules, with the region tournaments coming up quickly. With that comes our updated 2025-26 Georgia high school girls basketball top 25 rankings.
Remaining at the top of our top 25 is the Class 6A North Paulding girls, who have raised their record to 20-1 from their 17-1 mark at the time of our last ranking of the top 25 teams in the state. They remain undefeated in Region 5-6A with an 8-0 record.
The Wolfpack’s only loss remains a 72-60 loss to Holy Innocents. They have since won 17 games in a row and are the ITG Next No. 1 team in our Georgia high school girls basketball top 25.
Marist continues to impress as they ride a nine-game winning streak as part of their overall 19-2 record so far. The Lady War Eagles are just coming off an impressive 68-42 win over 16-3 region rival Southwest DeKalb. The Lady Panthers fall to 16-4 with half their losses coming from Marist.
Marist is our No. 2 team. The War Eagles are led by Kate Harpring, arguably the state’s top girls basketball player. Harpring is a five-star recruit and has committed to North Carolina.
Hebron Christian remains at No. 3 and have won five in a row since our last rankings were released. The Spartans are now 18-1 overall and are the top team in Region 8-2A with a 4-0 record.
Remaining at No. 4 is River Ridge. The Lady Knights have won four games in a row to improve to 14-6 on the season, but as we mentioned last week, River Ridge has faced a tough list of opponents so far in 2025-26, including out-of-state and nationally recognized powerhouses like Saint James from Montgomery, Alabama. The Lady Trojans were the Alabama Class 3A state runner-up last year. Other losses include games against Florida powerhouses Grandview Prep from Boca Raton and Doral Academy.
Moving up and into the No. 5 spot this week are the Lady Wolves of Buford. Head coach Gene Durden’s band of Wolves are one of Class 6A’s hottest teams with 16 straight wins to their credit. They are winning with ease, with the one exception being their 20-point loss to Westside back in week two of the season.
The 2025-26 regular season is coming down to its final two weeks.

The Georgia girls high school basketball teams are into the region portion of their 2026 schedules, as they jockey for the best positions for both the region tournaments and the state playoffs. We take a look at who we think are the best 25 teams in the state right now with our first official Georgia high school girls basketball ranking of the 2025-26 season.
Leading the pack of 25 is the Class 6A North Paulding Wolfpack, who are 17-1 at the time of this ranking. They are undefeated in Region 5-6A with a 6-0 record.
The Wolfpack are hoping to get back to the state championship, where they lost to Grayson two seasons ago in the 2024 finals 65-44. Last season saw North Paulding dominate throughout the regular season before losing to Carrollton in the second round of the state playoffs. It was nevertheless a grand season as North Paulding finished 12-0 in region play and 26-3 overall.
The Wolfpack’s only loss of this season came earlier in game four, a 72-60 loss to Holy Innocents’. They have since won 14 games in a row and are the ITG Next No. 1 team in our Georgia high school girls basketball top 25.
Marist is our No. 2 team with a 14-2 record at the time of writing. The War Eagles are led by Kate Harpring, arguably the state’s top girls basketball player. Harpring is a five-star recruit and has committed to North Carolina.
Hebron Christian lands at the No. 3 spot with a 13-1 start to the season. They are looking to make it back to the state championship, a familiar place for the Lions. They won the state title in 2023 and 2024 and lost to champion Holy Innocents’ last season in the finals.
The No. 4 team in our top 25 poll is River Ridge. The Knights are 10-6 on the season, but they have faced a gauntlet of teams so far in 2026, including a 14-1 Creekview Grizzlies squad in their most recent contest. The Knights defeated the Grizzlies 63-54. Their losses include games against Florida powerhouses Grandview Prep from Boca Raton and Doral Academy.
Rounding out the top five at No. 5 is Wilcox County. The defending Class 1A-Division II state champion is currently 12-1 after a 45-32 defeat of Wheeler County. The Patriots are atop Region 4 in Class 1A-Division II with a 4-0 record. Their only loss of the season was a 5-point defeat against Fitzgerald in the first game of 2026.
