Week 4 of our 2026 Georgia high school football season game predictions will feature a little bit of everything.
Top-ranked Fitzgerald will try to prove it is the best team in Class 2A, while Dodge County looks to shake things up with an upset of the Purple Hurricane and perhaps move closer to claiming the coveted No. 1 spot in the classification.
Another Class 2A team looking to overtake that top spot is Heard County, and the Braves can certainly gain some traction if they take care of Bowdon this week.
A former two-year starting quarterback will return to the field he once called home to face his former team as Lee County visits Colquitt County.
Grayson will look for another win, while Milton becomes the latest Georgia blue blood to take its brand of football out of state and continue the winning streak that started last week with three other top Georgia programs.
Richmond Hill looks to stay undefeated and hand Ware County another loss this season.
Dodge County vs. Fitzgerald
Friday, Sept. 11
It’s a battle of top 10 Class 2A programs as the No. 1-ranked Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane travels to Eastman to take on the No. 9-ranked Dodge County Indians.
Dodge County is 1-1 on the year after a tough 1-point loss to West Laurens 30-29 last week.
Fitzgerald is undefeated after opening the season with a win over preseason top-ranked Clinch County, which is now ranked fifth in ITG Next’s Class 1A poll, and shutting out Irwin County 28-0 last week.
Can Dodge County pull off the upset after getting upset itself last week?

Bowdon vs. Heard County
Friday, Sept. 11
Heard County is rested after a bye week, while the defending four-time Class A Division II state champion Red Devils of Bowdon enter this week’s game following a disappointing loss to Lamar County. Bowdon is still trying to find its footing as it enters this Week 4 matchup with one win and two losses.
Despite the slow start, Bowdon is our No. 4-ranked team in Class A this week. Meanwhile, Heard County is chasing the top spot in Class 2A as our No. 2-ranked team, right behind Fitzgerald. A win in this one and a little help from Dodge County against the Purple Hurricanes could put the Braves atop next week’s rankings.
But first things first.
Phil’s Pick: Heard County 42, Bowdon 22
Colquitt County vs. Lee County
Friday, Sept. 11
This is a tough one.
Not only do I think it’s going to be one of the great games of Week 4, but I also have tremendous respect for these two head coaches, who are among the best at what they do in high school football.
One of the major storylines will be the return of former Colquitt County starting quarterback Bryson Crawford to the field where he started the past two seasons. He transferred to Lee County this offseason and has worked his way into the quarterback rotation in Dean Fabrizio’s offense.
Lee County continues its rugged schedule as it travels for the second straight week to take on the Packers, who are tough in front of the home fans at Mack Tharpe Stadium, one of the toughest home-field advantages in the state.
Phil’s Pick: Lee County 35, Colquitt County 33
Brunswick vs. Grayson
Friday, Sept. 11
I picked Grayson to win its first game of the season last week, and the Rams did just that with a 22-3 win over a solid Hughes team. Now, Grayson will look to make it two in a row as it tries to get things back on track in 2026 under new head coach Greg Carswell.
The Rams will travel to the Georgia coast to take on another team with a new head coach, Byron Slack’s Brunswick Pirates. The Pirates lost to Camden County 35-21 to start the season but bounced back against an overmatched Groves team last week, winning 63-0.
Both teams could really use their second win of the season. Only one will get it.

Battle Ground Academy (Tennessee) vs. Milton
Friday, Sept. 11
This was one of the top interstate matchups I wrote about in the preseason involving a top Georgia program and a high-caliber out-of-state opponent.
One week after three Georgia teams went out of state and brought back wins over nationally prominent programs, Ben Reaves’ Milton Eagles will try to do the same as they travel to the Volunteer State to take on the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats in Franklin, Tennessee.
Reaves told us that this game came out of necessity because both teams were looking for an opponent to fill out their schedules, and thus the matchup was born.
Reaves also has made it a point to take his Eagles out of state to face quality opponents, and Battle Ground Academy definitely checks that box.
Battle Ground Academy is undefeated in 2026, winning all three of its games so far. Milton is 2-1.

Ware County vs. Richmond Hill
Friday, Sept. 11
Matt Lezotte has his Richmond Hill Wildcats playing good football, so what else is new? He is one of the top high school football coaches in the state as he continues to build the Wildcats program year after year, and his team is 3-0 entering a matchup against Ware County.
The Gators, on the other hand, are 1-1 after struggling against Coffee High School two weeks ago in a 20-point loss in Douglas. They opened the season against Jamie DeBose and his Bainbridge Bearcats and barely escaped with a 22-21 victory.
Ware County will host the Wildcats looking to improve to 2-1, while Richmond Hill looks to make it four wins in a row to start the 2026 season.
