Another week of 2023 Alabama high school baseball action has passed, which means we are down to four teams apiece in AHSAA Classes 1A-7A, and state title matchups are set in the AISA. So, ahead of this week’s action, let’s update our Top 25 rankings again. Included in this week’s update are four new teams entering the Top 25, headlined by Holtville and Spanish Fort at Nos. 13 and 15, respectively, after big quarterfinal series wins. UMS-Wright and Cullman also are ranked, entering the week at the Nos. 24 and 25 spots.

As we enter the quarterfinal round of the 2023 Alabama high school baseball playoffs, our Top 25 rankings see an update that includes three new teams in the mix – Arab, Gordo, and G.W. Long – in the Nos. 23-25 spots. The Knights were victorious in one of the top second-round matchups this past weekend, defeating previous No. 24 Alexandria. Gordo and G.W. Long have been among the best in their respective classifications this season. Smiths Station was the biggest riser of the week, as the Panthers jumped four spots to No. 21 after having defeated previous No. 22 Fairhope in the second round.

With the 2023 Alabama high school baseball playoffs underway, our latest Top 25 rankings sees one of its biggest updates of the year, headlined by three new teams entering the mix. Of those three, the highest-ranked is Class 7A’s Chelsea at No. 16 after a big week, while 5A’s Alexandria makes its Top 25 debut at No. 24. The No. 25 spot goes to Smiths Station; the Panthers make their return this week after having been ranked earlier in the year. With the Class 7A playoffs set to begin this week, will next week’s update see a similar amount of movement and surprises?

With the 2023 Alabama high school baseball playoffs set to begin later this week, here is the latest update of our Top 25 rankings. Despite the absence of any new teams on the list, there were still a few takeaways, with Bayside Academy and Sparkman among the biggest risers of the week. Pike Road dropped the most of any team, falling six spots to No. 19. Stanhope Elmore, Hartselle, Spain Park, and Vestavia Hills each climbed a spot within the Top 10.

The latest update of our 2023 Alabama high school baseball rankings features one new team in the mix: The 25th-ranked Fairhope Pirates make the list for the first time this season. The latest Class 7A team to be ranked, the Pirates are coming off an exciting week on the diamond that included a win over Elberta, as well as two victories over previously No. 15-ranked Mobile Christian, 8-6 and 3-1. In addition to Fairhope, Stanhope Elmore, Hartselle, and Spain Park were among the other takeaways from the week, as all three rose a spot within the Top 10.

The latest update of our 2023 Alabama high school baseball rankings sees a pair of new teams make their Top 25 debuts from Classes 6A and 4A, respectively, in Briarwood Christian and Priceville. The Lions and Bulldogs are ranked back-to-back at the Nos. 24-25 spots. Pike Road, Sardis, and Vestavia Hills also saw notable rises, and Tuscaloosa County jumped a spot within the top five.

After a week of noteworthy results, the latest update of our 2023 Alabama high school baseball Top 25 rankings brings about a significant amount of movement, as well as the debut of Class 4A’s Cleburne County at No. 25. Thompson remains in the No. 1 spot, despite suffering its first losses of the season, while another Class 7A team, Hoover, is the biggest riser of the week – the Buccaneers jump eight spots to No. 7 on the strength of a pair of victories over Hewitt-Trussville and Auburn, the latter a big 11-7 road win on March 25.

The first update of our Alabama high school baseball Top 25 rankings this season is headlined by one team: Thompson

Taking over the No. 1 spot this week, the Warriors continued their hot start to the year across this past week, extending their record to a perfect 20-0 with wins over the likes of Shelby County, Cullman, and previously top-ranked Central (Phenix City).

In addition to the Warriors, Class 6A’s Oxford also saw a rise within the top five up to No. 3, while a few other programs such as Spain Park and Vestavia Hills also saw noteworthy rises. One team debuts this week in Class 5A’s Sardis, who sits at No. 24.

Our 2023 Top 25 rankings for Alabama high school baseball combines teams from Classes 1A-7A, both AHSAA and AISA. These will be updated weekly throughout the remainder of the season.

Holding the No. 1 ranking this week is defending Class 7A state champion Central-Phenix City, which finished the 2022 season at No. 1 and headlines a close top five alongside Hewitt-Trussville, Hartselle, Bob Jones, and Oxford. A total of 12 teams in Class 7A are ranked in our initial update, the most of any across the state.
