You’re a 25-year-old phenom playing Major League Baseball, and you’ve racked up 20 hits in your first 19 games of the 2016 season. Your team takes a road trip to compete, and you pull out a win over the home team on Saturday. How do you celebrate the win?
It’s simple. You go to prom.
On Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies by a score of 4-1 at Coors Field in Denver. Fourth-year right fielder Yasiel Puig went 1-4 from the plate and contributed tremendous outfield play in the victory (including an amazing throw from the outfield to pick off the Rockies’ Trevor Story on a near-triple). However, he found quite the unique way to reward himself, as well as a select group of local students, after the contest.
Photos posted to the Twitter account of Puig place him at the prom of Chatfield Senior High School. Reportedly, he surprised the students by randomly making an appearance and winning over the hearts of the soon-to-be-graduates. Included in the fan base were members of the Chatfield baseball team, who all made sure to take pictures with the young star.
