State Playoffs Ending, Early Signing Day Approaching

As state playoffs in several states inch to the finish line, the next big moment in high school football will be Early Signing Day on Dec. 16.

The one thing that gets lost in the hustle and bustle of high school recruiting is the Christmas holiday. One thing that is for certain is that we must not forget to be thankful during this season.

Be thankful that we have friends and family that remained safe during this pandemic.

Be thankful that even though cases are surging in some regions, we are getting closer to a vaccine being released to the public.

Be thankful for our essential workers who continue to risk their own lives so that so many can be provided with the best care and best services available.

Be thankful we were even able to have a high school season because at one point that didn’t look possible.

Lastly, let’s be thankful to the student-athletes in high school and in college who put their faith and trust in the health protocols, the institutions, and in the coaches to ensure they were well educated on the expectations surrounding this uncertain time.

All-in-all, high school football and college football, and maybe the NBA if you’re a fan, saved 2020 for a lot of us. So as you gather ideas of what you’re going to buy loved ones for the holidays, or as you sit down and think about what college you’re going to commit to, just remember to be thankful.

Be thankful for what you’ve been able to accomplish this year – personally, academically, and athletically. Not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because a lot people didn’t get that same opportunity to do that very thing this year.
