St. Pius X guard Harris Reynolds, a senior and Clemson signee, scored 39 points and added 11 rebounds to keep his team undefeated at 22-0 on the season in an 80-60 win over the Marist War Eagles in the Sweet 16 round of the GHSA Private boys basketball state playoffs.
North Cobb Christian junior Xavier Butler had a double-double in the Eagles’ Sweet 16 win over Lovett with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Butler also has three blocks, two assists, and two steals in the 78-64 win.
Putnam County guard Tamaud Woodson, a senior, scored 30 points in the War Eagles’ 79-50 win over Dublin in the second round of the GHSA Class 1A-Division I boys basketball state playoffs. Woodson also grabbed six rebounds, dished out two assists, and had three steals.
McEachern guard Chase Lumpkin, a junior, scored 41 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Indians’ 94-57 Sweet 16 win over Chapel Hill.
Houston County senior Malik Gillespie led the Bears to a 64-43 win over Kennesaw Mountain with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one blocked shot to help his team advance to the GHSA Class 5A boys basketball Elite Eight.
Decatur guard Jason Welborn Jr., a senior, scored 21 points and had four rebounds, four assists, and a steal to lead his Bulldogs to a 68-62 win over the Winder-Barrow Bulldogs in their Sweet 16 state tournament matchup.
Calvary Day juniors Jamin Martin and Chiel Singleton each delivered 13-point performances to lead the Cavaliers to a 51-47 win over Greater Atlanta Christian in the GHSA Private School Class Sweet 16 state playoffs.
North Oconee guard Justin Wise, a junior, scored 30 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and had three assists, one steal, and one blocked shot to lead the Titans to a 66-64 win over Mays in the GHSA Class 4A Sweet 16 round of the state playoffs.
Bowdon guard Zayland Allen, a sophomore, led the Red Devils with 29 points, seven rebounds, and two steals in an 83-47 win over Warren County in the Sweet 16 round of the GHSA Class 1A-Division II boys basketball state playoffs.
