Pope Outfielder, Pitcher Ben Hill Among Top Performers in Week 8 of 2026 Georgia High School Baseball Season

Here are our top 10 performers from Week 8 of the 2026 Georgia high school baseball season.

Pope outfielder and left-handed pitcher Ben Hill, a senior, hit three home runs as part of a 12-RBI effort in the Greyhounds’ series sweep over Sprayberry. On the season, Hill is batting .375 with 24 hits, seven doubles, four home runs, and 29 RBIs.

Seminole County pitcher Brennen McGowen, a junior, went 8-for-8 last week with three walks, one triple, three doubles, three singles, and a home run in a doubleheader against Terrell County.

Tift County outfielder Brodie Law, a senior, went 5-for-10 while driving in four runs, with a slugging percentage of .900 in 11 plate appearances, including one triple, two singles, and two doubles, along with three runs scored and four stolen bases in games against North Bay Haven, Tellico Plains, and Port St. Joe.

Colquitt County pitcher Jaxson Dorminey, a sophomore, entered the game on April 3 against Richmond Hill in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and the score tied 2-2. With one out and the go-ahead runs in scoring position, Dorminey struck out the next two batters to get the Packers out of the inning. After Colquitt County scored to take a 3-2 lead, Dorminey came back into the game and, after allowing a base hit, got an out on a fielder’s choice before striking out the final two batters to preserve the win.

Lanier County cleanup hitter Talen Tarbox, a senior, went 3-for-3 at the plate against Irwin County, driving in four runs in a 9-0 win.

North Hall senior Jake Beard went 7-for-7 at the plate against Johnson High School last week, including two home runs, one of which was a grand slam, and 11 RBIs in the win.

Valdosta catcher Matt Bounds, a senior, batted .417 with three doubles and a home run in the Wildcats’ non-region games against Bainbridge and Thomas County Central.

Fitzgerald pitcher and infielder Gabe Grubbs, a junior, helped lead the Purple Hurricanes at the plate and on the mound against Bacon County. Grubbs went 4-for-10 with two walks and pitched a seven-inning complete game shutout with 11 strikeouts against the Red Raiders.

Coffee infielder and right-handed pitcher Ben Fussell, a senior, had three hits, three RBIs, and two runs, including a leadoff home run and a double, against Ware County in a doubleheader.

Ware County senior Slade Sweat hit four home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in nine runs on March 31 in a massive single-game performance in the Gators’ 18-10 win over the Coffee Trojans.
