How the No. 1 Overall Recruit According to 247Sports for the Previous Five Years Has Performed After High School

High school football doesn’t last forever, and these former No. 1 overall prospects from the last five years, according to 247Sports, know that well. Check out how they have performed after their high school years in collegiate football and beyond. Who will be the next player to follow in their footsteps?

 

2015 No. 1 Overall Prospect: Trenton Thompson, DT, Westover High School (Albany, GA)

Thompson attended the University of Georgia and finished his three-year collegiate career with 119 total tackles and five and a half sacks

 

2016 No. 1 Overall Prospect: Rashan Gary, DT, Paramus Catholic High School (Paramus, NJ)

Gary attended the University of Michigan and finished his three-year collegiate career with 137 total tackles and 10.5 sacks. He was drafted 12th overall by the Green Bay Packers in the 2019 NFL draft.

 

2017 No. 1 Overall Prospect: Walker Little, OT, Episcopal High School (Bellaire, TX)

Little attends Stanford University and became the first true freshman to start at left tackle for the Cardinals since 2000. He was named the Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Co-Player of the Year in 2017 and earned First Team Pac-12 honors as a sophomore. He opted out of the 2020 season to prepare for the NFL Draft.

 

2018 No. 1 Overall Prospect: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Cartersville High School (Cartersville, GA)

Lawrence is currently a junior at Clemson University. He has accrued 8,085 total career yards, 14 career rushing touchdowns, 76 passing touchdowns, and only 12 interceptions so far. Clemson won the 2018 National Championship in Lawrence’s first year with the team.

 

2019 No. 1 Overall Prospect: Antonio Alfano, SDE, Colonia High School (Colonia, NJ)

Alfano attended the University of Alabama, but transferred to the University of Colorado before playing in a game for the Crimson Tide. He is awaiting action with the Buffaloes.
