McEachern at West Broward (Florida)
Thursday, Aug. 27 | Kickoff: 7:00 p.m.
The Indians play in their second straight showcase event to start the season. Last week, McEachern defeated Kell in the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic by a convincing 40-10 final.
This week McEachern head coach Kareem Reid’s team flies to South Florida to take part in the Broward County High School National Football Showcase, where it will take on West Broward High School on Thursday night. The Bobcats were runners-up in the Florida High School Class 6A state championship last season, finishing with a 12-3 record. This will be West Broward’s season opener.
Phil’s Pick: McEachern 38, West Broward 24
Coffee vs. Ware County
Thursday, Aug. 27 | Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
Both teams started the season with victories in Week 1, but in opposite fashion. Coffee defeated Parkview 49-14 in the Corky Kell Classic at Georgia State University’s Center Parc Stadium, while Ware County overcame an early 7-0 deficit and a late 21-14 deficit against Bainbridge to win 22-21.
Ware scored a late touchdown and converted a 2-point attempt to take the lead, which turned out to be the difference in the game.
Coffee appears to have put last year’s four-win season behind it and will likely lean on MVP Xavien Littleton, who was impressive in the win over Parkview.

Lee County vs. Miami Carol City (Florida)
Friday, Aug. 28 | Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
One of the most anticipated games of the early 2026 season will feature Miami Carol City playing at Lee County in another interstate matchup of Top 10-ranked Florida and Georgia prep powerhouses. Both the Trojans and Chiefs are fresh off season-opening routs, with Carol City defeating Daytona Mainland 38-3 and Lee County defeating last season’s Georgia high school Class 2A state finalist Hapeville Charter 51-0.
Both teams will feature two of the country’s top receiving recruits, including Chiefs wide receiver Nick Lennear and Lee County wide receiver Jaden Upshaw. Both are currently rated as four-star wide receivers by 247Sports.
Expect a lot of offense in this one.

Blessed Trinity vs. Milton
Friday, Aug. 28 | Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
Milton converted a late 2-point attempt to walk away with a come-from-behind 30-29 win over North Cobb at the Eagles Nest in the season opener for Ben Reaves’ squad. Blessed Trinity also was successful in its season opener for the 16th straight season with a 44-0 shutout of Decatur in a Thursday night Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic matchup.
Now, the two teams will meet in a battle of ITG Next Georgia Top 5 teams, with Ed Dudley’s Titans ranked No. 1 in our ITG Next Georgia Class 5A Top 10 poll this week. Milton is our No. 3-ranked team in the super-tough Class 6A. Can Milton make it two in a row to start 2026, or will Blessed Trinity prove it belongs at the top of Class 5A?

Dooly County vs. Crisp County
Friday, Aug. 28 | Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
The Cougars are still looking to play their first game of the season after their season opener last week at Early County was delayed for more than two hours and ultimately rescheduled for Nov. 6. The Bobcats, on the other hand, did play their game but were unable to find any offense in a 36-0 loss to Macon County.
Can Dooly County get things turned around this week against Crisp County and head coach Justin Newman?

Bleckley County vs. Cook
Friday, Aug. 28 | Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
The Hornets gave Cornelius “Pig” Brown a 1-0 career record as a head coach with a thrilling 36-35 overtime win over highly ranked Swainsboro last week. Now, they’ll try to make it two in a row against a Bleckley County program that also won its season opener last week against a solid West Laurens team 28-3.
The Royals were 9-3 a year ago and advanced to the second round. This will be yet another stern test for the Hornets. Can they rise up one more time?
