Here are our top 10 performers from Week 9 of the 2026 Georgia high school baseball season.
Lowndes outfielder and pitcher Matthew Kerrigan, a senior, threw a complete game shutout against the Valdosta Wildcats in a 6-0 win in the first of three games against the Wildcats. Kerrigan allowed just four hits and no walks in seven innings, throwing 60 strikes on 83 pitches.
Rockmart shortstop Brax McBryde, a junior, went 6-for-9 last week with seven RBIs and two walks in a doubleheader win over North Murray.
Tift County junior Jake Spurlin had an impressive couple of series against Colquitt County and Camden County. The Elon University commit went 5-for-6 in a doubleheader against Camden County with a double, a triple, and a home run. Against Colquitt County, Spurlin batted .375 with two home runs, a double, and three RBIs.
Houston County pitcher Ethan Kenney, a senior, pitched a complete game against Lee County in the Bears’ 6-2 win last week, striking out three while scattering seven hits over seven innings and allowing two earned runs. Kenney also did well at the plate with four walks, three hits, two runs scored, and three RBIs.
Metter pitcher Hanley Sims, a junior, pitched a no-hitter against Claxton with seven strikeouts. In games against Claxton and ECI, Sims hit two home runs and drove in seven RBIs to lead the Tigers on the mound and at the plate.
Echols County pitcher JP Dees, a senior , had a big day for the Wildcats against Clinch County with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate and two home runs. Dees also pitched four innings in relief, striking out five batters while allowing just one earned run.
Valdosta pitcher and first baseman Tanner Day, a junior, earned a complete game win over Lowndes in game two of their three-game series last week, allowing two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out two. Day also batted .500 in the series with two RBIs, including the game-winning run.
Callaway catcher Luke Taylor, a senior, batted .500 in the Cavaliers’ series against Morgan County, going 5-for-10 with four RBIs, three stolen bases, two walks, and two runs scored. Taylor also threw out two runners attempting to steal in the series.
Trion’s Sam Mobbs went 3-for-3 against Manchester with five RBIs, including the walk-off hit that drove in the final run of the game for the Bulldogs. Mobbs also started the game on the mound, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out four batters through the first two innings he pitched.
Thomas County Central pitcher Dallas Pitts, a senior, pitched six innings against Northside-Warner Robins, allowing no runs and just one hit while striking out seven batters and walking two in the Yellow Jackets’ 7-0 shutout victory.
