Parkview Baseball Player Garrett Lambert Voted ITG Next Georgia Male Athlete of the Month

Garrett Lambert, a senior on the Parkview Panthers baseball team, is the ITG Next Georgia Male Athlete of the Month, having received the most votes from our audience.

Lambert led his Parkview squad to the Region 4-7A championship with an 11-1 region record. He was also a major reason Parkview advanced to the state semifinals this season, finishing 30-8 overall.

Garrett led his team to a 10-0 playoff win against Lambert with five IPs, four strikeouts, and just two walks, while adding two hits at the plate. In a 6-2 playoff victory over Colquitt County, Lambert went 1-2 with a HR, a walk, and two RBIs. In yet another 10-0 playoff win, this time over McEachern, Lambert struck out 10 in five innings. At the plate, he went 2-3 with a double and two RBIs. In a non-region regular-season contest against Buford, the senior went six innings and surrendered no earned runs and just one walk while striking out 11.

Lambert has been dominant on the mound for the Panthers this month, as well as all season. For the year, he pitched 56.2 innings with 88 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a paltry .160 batting average. He had 8 wins with 2 losses and a 0.99 ERA. He pitched two shutouts this season.

He has been just as impressive at the plate this year, batting.385 with 23 singles, eight doubles, and four home runs for a total of 35 hits in 91 at bats. He also has shown his value as a teammate by taking seven walks and five sacrifice flies. He has been HBP four times and reached on error twice. His OBP is .430, and his OBS is 1.034. He has a .989 fielding percentage, with just one error in 89 chances.

Garrett was recognized as the Region 4-AAAAAAA Player of the Year for his consistent performance all season long. He will be attending Mercer University beginning in 2023, when he will become a member of the nationally recognized Bears baseball program.

Parkview head baseball coach Chan Brown told ITG Next Georgia that Lambert “has been a dominant player for us all year. Garrett has pitched great for us, and has hit great for us all season in the middle of the lineup.”

Brown also talked about Lambert’s intangibles. “Garrett is a leader for us in the dugout, and off the field, and he really thrives in the classroom, remaining a straight A student,” Brown said.

“He has such a bright future in this game,” Brown added. “We are all excited to see where it goes from here for Garrett.”

Congratulations to Garrett Lambert on his Athlete of the Month recognition!
