Each Week ITG Next recognizes the best performances from Georgia high school football players across the state. Here’s a rundown of the Week 8 highlights.
Offense
Dougherty quarterback Kam Davis completed 22-of-30 passes for 336 yards and 3 touchdowns and rushed for another score to lead his team to victory.
Wheeler running back Josiah Allen had 22 carries for 334 yards rushing to lead the Wildcats in a 35-21 win over Cherokee.
Dougherty running back Jacob Stallworth had 12 carries for 101 yards and 3 TDs.
Thomas County Central RB Trey Brenton rushed 18 times for 147 yards and 3 TDs against Tift County.
Northeast Macon RB Nick Woodford rushed for 302 yards and 5 TDs in the Raiders win over Kendrick.
Houston County QB AJ Hill led the Bears’ offensive attack by completing 20-of-27 passes for 202 yds and 2 TDs.
Richmond Hill QB Ty Goldrick completed 15-of-29 passes for 182 yards and 2 TDs in the Wildcats’ game against Camden County. He surpassed 1,000 yards passing with this performance, and he leads region 1-7A in passing.
Fitzgerald RB Tylar Wiliams had 5 carries for 86 yards and 2 TDs to lead the Purple Hurricanes to a 42-0 win over Worth County.
Jasper County RB Jalen Stewart rushed 19 times for 160 yards and scored a touchdown to help lead the Hurricanes to their third win of the season Friday night.
Lee County QB Weston Bryan threw for 202 yards and 2 TDs on 15-of-19 passing to lead the Trojans to a 42-7 win over Veterans.
Lee Co RB Ousmane Kromah had 12 carries for 135 yards and a touchdown.
Lee County WR Jevell Fugerson had 10 catches for 181 yards and 2 TDs.
Crisp County ATH Trae Walker had multiple highlights in Georgia high school Week 8 action: 4 receptions for 35 yards and a TD, 1 carry for a 20-yard TD, and a big punt return (see Special Teams below).
Defense
Thomasville’s Evan Wynn had 17 tackles, broke up 2 passes, and added a QB pressure to help lead the Bulldogs to victory over Carver-Columbus.
Valdosta DL Omar White had 10 tackles, 6 of those for loss, plus 2 sacks and a fumble recovery.
Carrolton DB Kelvin Hill had 2 interceptions to lead his team to a 10-point win over East Coweta.
Valdosta DL Eric Brantley had 10 tackles, including 5 tackles for loss, and a quarterback sack.
Valdosta DL Jarius Curry had 14 tackles (4 for loss), 2 sacks, and 4 QB pressures.
Thomasville’s Kam Bradshaw had 14 tackles and a sack in the Bulldogs’ win over Carver.
Special Teams
Lowndes kicker Aiden Andrews was good on FG attempts from 35 yards and 22 yards.
Camden County’s Ja’Marley Riddle returned a punt for 74 yards in the fourth quarter to give Camden a 21-14 win over Richmond Hill.
Berrien High’s kickoff return team could have filled a highlights reel all on its own in Week 8 of Georgia high school action. Three Rebels returned kickoffs for touchdowns: Matthew Lopez, Josiah Davis, and Jamon Robinson. Davis has returned 6 kickoffs for touchdowns this season.
Berrien’s Mathew Lopez also kicked a last-minute 40-yard field goal to beat Sumter County 38-36.
Thomasville’s Andrew Bennett punted six times for a 38-yard average. He landed one of those punts inside the 20-yard line, another inside the 10, and a third inside the 5.
Calhoun kick returner Cam Curtis returned a kickoff for a 98-yard TD in the Yellow Jackets’ game against Hiram.
Fitzgerald junior kicker Erick Trejo was successful on 6 out of 6 PATs in the Purple Hurricanes’ win at Worth County.
Crisp County’s Trae Walker had a 50-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Carrolton kicker Freddie Perez connected on field goal attempts of 36, 47, and 32 yards and also made three extra point attempts to help the Trojans defeat East Coweta.
