The starting quarterback for one of the state’s top football teams, Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory’s Cedrick Bailey has been voted our ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for September 2022. He received 33.49% of the votes.
Few football teams state-wide, if any, can truly match up with the pure level of talent that Chaminade-Madonna has on the offensive side of the ball, a group that features top recruits all over the field. Bailey is a key member of that group; he helped lead the Lions to the 3A state title a year ago, passing for 2,061 yards with a 19:6 touchdown-to-interception ratio as a sophomore.
A four-star prospect in the 2024 class, Bailey, as you’d likely expect, is off to a hot start in his 2022 junior season, beginning with an impressive performance during the Lions’ lone game in August.
In a 35-28 win over St. John’s (DC), Bailey completed 18 of 25 passes in the Lions’ victory, which translated to 224 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Also rushing for 48 yards on six carries in the contest, Bailey’s stellar play for the Lions did not stop there, as the four-star continues to impress at the helm of one of Florida’s top offenses.
Currently ranking among the state’s leading passers, Bailey has completed 64.3% of his passes across the season’s first four games, translating to 1,194 yards with a 12:3 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Averaging 298.5 passing yards per game, Bailey has also made an impact on the ground by rushing for 85 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries during that same span.
A player whose recruitment is starting to take off, Bailey is fully cemented as one of Florida’s top 2024 quarterbacks, and the junior’s start to the season is nothing but reassurance.
Congratulations to Chaminade-Madonna’s Cedrick Bailey, our ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for September 2022.
