Campiglia Keeps Adding on

Congratulations to Valdosta High School’s Parker Campiglia! Parker just added an exceptional milestone to his list of accomplishments, the VHS senior cheerleader is heading to The Georgia Institute of Technology on a full scholarship. The scholarship was provided by the Stamp’s Family Charitable Foundation Incorporation and it covers tuition, mandatory fees, meal plan, academic supplies, a lab top, housing, books, and $15,000 in funding for pillar-based international expenses, unpaid internships, unpaid research, and conferences.

The scholarship is only rewarded to a total of about 260 students out of an estimate of 400,000. The scholarships annual award amount ranges from 69,000 to 5,000 and provides additional funds for studying abroad, conferences and leadership training. The first Scholars program became afloat in 2006 thanks to Penny and Roe Stamps. Both of the Stamps started with having the merit scholarship available at their alma maters, the University of Michigan and Georgia Tech. But the program has expanded to about 40 institutions and has over 1000 recipients in its legacy.

The fact that Parker was able to triumph in a pool that had so much variety shows how his determination has been a factor not only in school but also in life itself. His non-stop milestones include playing soccer and cheerleading at a high level, a member of the Boy Scouts of America, labeled as an Eagle Scout, served on the 2015-16 Student Advisory council that only possessed 110 members, and was a part of the Lowndes Youth Leadership league. The numerous amounts of accomplishments display why he was an ideal candidate for the scholarship and this is not the only occasion a program has recognized Parker.

The remarkable athlete was also recognized as a Wendy’s Heisman State Finalist. The award partners Wendy’s with the Heisman Memorial Trophy and gives rewards based on commitments and achievements to academics, athletics, and community on a national level. As a state finalist, Parker received a bronze medal, a state finalist patch, and a $25 Wendy’s gift card.

Parker seems like slowing down is not an option, he definitely has left his stamp in South Georgia and looks to expand his achievements in the fall.
