Valdosta Wildcats 2025 Football Preview

We tell you everything you need to know about the 2025 Valdosta High School football team in this preview, including roster changes and what fans can expect from the Wildcats this season.

2024 Season Stats

  • Overall Record: 9-3
  • Points Scored: 384
  • Points Allowed: 271

Key Roster Losses

Valdosta loses quarterback Todd Robinson and top receiver Eli Lewis from last year’s team.

Robinson was a three-year starter and leaves Valdosta with 4,406 yards passing and 41 TDs through the air during his career with the Wildcats. He also had 2,108 yards rushing and 23 rushing TDs while under center for Valdosta. He signed to play college ball at UGA, where he’ll likely be a defensive back.

Lewis had 1,190 yards receiving with 11 TDs over his high school career, and he was also a key kick returner for the Wildcats.

Defensive end Kobi Brown, who led the team with nine sacks last year, and nose guard Marcus Williams, the team’s leading tackler in 2024, will both be missed. Linebacker Demario Favors and defensive back Khalil Mollay, a team captain, will not return.

Key Players Returning

Valdosta returns enough talent to offset the losses to graduation.

Kentucky commit Prince Jean is back. Jean can line up at several spots, including quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. Since he had 45 receptions for 622 yards and seven TDs in 2024, he’ll likely play mostly at receiver this season, but don’t be surprised to see him take a few snaps at QB too.

The Wildcats’ two leading rushers return this year in juniors Deron Foster and Marquis Fennell. Last season Foster rushed for 629 yards with eight TDs last season, and Fennell had 835 yards rushing plus 456 yards receiving with 10 TDs total.

Valdosta’s defense will be one of the most experienced units in Region 1-6A with defensive backs Tres Ellison, Seth Brown Jr., and Jalon Copeland all returning in 2025. The defensive line will return Jimyll Lundy, and linebacker Zamarion Williams also returns.

Junior quarterback Tripp Perry returns, while quarterback Tyrieke Wade is a newcomer to the program, having moved in this offseason from Shoemaker High School in Killeen, Texas.

What to Expect From the Valdosta Wildcats in 2025

The Wildcats graduated 40 seniors from their 2024 roster, and while not all of those players were starters or key contributors, several were.

Even with those losses to graduation, Valdosta brings back a load of talent, especially with players who can fill multiple positions on offense, defense, and special teams. Valdosta started mostly sophomores and juniors in 2024 and still possessed a team that won nine games and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs. Except for Robinson, the offense brings back most of its weapons, and the defense returns a lot of its core group from last year.

The key for Valdosta could come down to the QB spot: New arrival Wade and returning backup Perry will likely battle it out for the starting job, and the chances are good that both will see time at QB in 2025.

2025 Season Prediction

The Wildcats will go 10-3 overall and have a chance at a region top seed.
