The Class of 2024 rankings recently were updated around the recruiting industry, and it’s clear once again that Alabama has some truly elite talent coming up through the ranks. Who are some of the top Alabama football prospects that you should be familiar with? (Rankings courtesy of the 247Sports Composite.)

Quarterback

  • Josh Flowers, Baker
  • KJ Jackson, St. James
  • Kamari McClellan, Oxford

Baker’s Josh Flowers, a fast-rising prospect who already holds offers from Alabama and Florida, is arguably the top 2024 quarterback among Alabama football prospects. Rated as a three-star, Flowers is coming off a phenomenal sophomore season in which he accounted for 2,851 yards and 32 touchdowns, including 12 on the ground, for the Hornets.

Not far behind Flowers are St. James’ KJ Jackson and Oxford’s Kamari McClellan, both of whom also hold offers from notable Power 5 programs. Jackson in particular is coming off a phenomenal sophomore season, one in which he threw for 1,992 yards and 28 touchdowns with seven more scores on the ground.

Running Back

  • Ronnie Royal III, Gulf Shores
  • J’Marion Burnette, Andalusia

A First Team All-State selection before even entering his junior season, Ronnie Royal III is one of the most accomplished in-state players in the 2024 class. The four-star standout at Gulf Shores has seen time on both sides of the ball during his prep career, already holds offers from multiple power 5 programs, and has earned numerous accolades on both the state and national levels.

Right there alongside Royal is Andalusia’s J’Marion Burnette, a four-star prospect who holds offers from prominent collegiate programs such as Alabama, Arkansas, Oregon, and more. One of the top running backs among Alabama football prospects, Burnette is coming off a tremendous sophomore season in which he rushed for 2,281 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Wide Receiver

  • Mario Craver, Clay-Chalkville

Clay-Chalkville’s Mario Craver is a four-star prospect who holds offers from notable Power 5 programs such as Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and more. One of the top wideouts for the defending 6A state champions, Craver is coming off a sophomore season in which he collected 937 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Defensive Line

  • Kavion Henderson, Leeds
  • Jeremiah Beaman, Parker
  • Sterling Dixon, Mobile Christian
  • Malik Blocton, Pike Road

The Class of 2024 group of Alabama football prospects is loaded with talent along the defensive line, with Leeds’ Kavion Henderson emerging as the top name. A four-star prospect, Henderson is coming off a Second Team All-State season in 2021 as a sophomore, and holds numerous offers from Power 5 programs.

A trio of other defensive linemen are also currently ranked, with Parker four-star Jeremiah Beaman arguably the most accomplished of the three – he’s coming a sophomore season in which he totaled 41 tackles and two sacks. Mobile Christian’s Sterling Dixon also had a strong 2021 season (78 tackles, 31 TFL, and 9 sacks) while Pike Road’s Malik Blocton is one of the fastest risers of the class.

Linebacker

  • Demarcus Riddick, Chilton County

By far the state’s top 2024 linebacker is Chilton County’s Demarcus Riddick, a four-star prospect and Top 100 player nationally. Holding offers from almost every major Power 5 program across the country, Riddick is a player who has experience at multiple positions on both sides of the ball.

Defensive Back

  • Jaylen Mbakwe, Clay-Chalkville
  • Damian Thompson, Mars Hill Bible
  • Jayden Lewis, Anniston
  • A’Mon Lane, Moody
  • Travaris Banks, Northridge

Clay-Chalkville cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe, the state’s top 2024 recruit, headlines this loaded group of DBs. Like Mbakwe, Mars Hill Bible’s Damian Thompson is another Top 100 prospect who sees time at multiple positions on both sides of the ball.

Anniston’s Jayden Lewis and Northridge’s Travaris Banks are both four-star cornerback prospects who hold multiple Power 5 offers. Moody’s A’Mon Lane could be the biggest riser of the group in 2022 – the four-star is quickly turning into one of the state’s top overall 2024 prospects.
