Alabama High School Boys Basketball Top 25: Classes 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A

The Alabama high school boys basketball season has come to a close, with seven state champions being decided last week in Birmingham. Who were those seven teams, and how many of that group finished in our 2023 Alabama high school boys basketball Top-25 rankings?
Class 7A state champion Hoover finishes the year in the top spot, with 6A champion Buckhorn not far behind at No. 2. The remaining state champions are as follows: 5A Valley (No. 6), 4A Jacksonville (No. 17), 3A Plainview (No. 16), 2A Aliceville (No. 24), 1A Covenant Christian (No. 25).

As the regional finals get set to begin this Tuesday, our Top 25 rankings for Alabama high school boys basketball receives what is one of the most action packed updates of the 2022-23 season so far.
Included in this update were all but five teams moving at least one place, as well as four new teams – Central-Phenix City, Blount, Jacksonville, and Huffman – entering the rankings coming off strong starts to the postseason. The highest ranked of those four are the Red Devils at No. 19, with Central-Phenix City’s last two weeks headlined by a 59-56 win over previously Top 10 ranked Auburn in the Class 7A-Area 4 tournament.

As area tournaments begin this week across the state, our 2023 Alabama Classes 1A-7A high school boys basketball rankings receives its latest update. It features two new teams, Charles Henderson and McGill-Toolen, in the mix, sitting at No. 19 and No. 21, respectively. Several teams jumped multiple spots, including Huntsville, Cottage Hill Christian, Baker, Auburn, and Class 5A’s Ramsay Rams, the biggest riser of the week, moving up six places to No. 17.

The latest update of our 2023 Alabama high school boys basketball rankings for Classes 1A-7A is headlined by the rise of Hoover into the top five, as well as the addition of two new teams into the mix – Jefferson Davis and Ramsay. Jefferson Davis becomes the latest 7A team to enter the Top 25, coming in at No. 21 after a strong two weeks that included a pair of wins over another ranked team, Enterprise. Class 5A’s Ramsay, also coming off a strong last two weeks, enters the week at No. 23. That stretch included a win over a ranked team, Scottsboro, as well as a defeat of Huffman, one of many teams sitting just outside the rankings.

Beginning with this week’s update, are combining our two Top-25 power rankings for 2023 Alabama high school boys basketball into one that features all classes from 1A-7A. As with previous rankings this season, updates will come every other week and will alternate between boys and girls.
Holding the No. 1 spot in these 2023 Alabama high school boys basketball rankings is Class 6A’s Pinson Valley, with Tuscaloosa County, Spain Park, Vestavia Hills, and Cullman rounding out a tightly packed top five. Class 7A places the most teams in the Top 25 at 14, with 6A the next closest at five.
