Bishop Kenny wide receiver Caneim Maxwell caught a pass in the middle of the field and was struggling for more yardage as he was being tackled by a Fletcher defender. Maxwell suddenly felt his knee buckle, and he collapsed to the ground. He tried to get up but fell back down.
Greg Heeter, athletic trainer, and Carlos Tandron, team physician, rushed to the fallen player and knew immediately this was no ordinary injury. The twisted knee was protruding at a ghastly angle, and Maxwell was stabilized for transport to the hospital.
