Worth County Pitcher Avery Kilcrease Among Top 10 Performers in Opening Weeks of 2026 Georgia High School Baseball Season

Here are our top 10 performers from recent action in the 2026 Georgia high school baseball season.

Worth County pitcher Avery Kilcrease has had a strong start to the season for the Rams baseball team. In three wins against Bainbridge, Schley County, and Crisp County, Kilcrease allowed just one earned run, three hits, six walks in 18 innings pitched. He struck out 45 batters, and he pitched a no-hitter in the win over Crisp County.

Loganville pitcher Tripp Sapp, a sophomore, struck out nine batters over 4 2/3 innings, allowing only one hit and zero earned runs in the Red Devils’ 4-1 win over nationally ranked Blessed Trinity in the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament this weekend.

Rockmart left-handed pitcher Trey Luke, a senior, threw 111 pitches over eight innings, struck out 15 batters, gave up no hits, zero runs, issued just two walks, and scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning against Cedartown in Rockmart’s 1-0 win.

Seminole County pitcher Brennen McGowan, a junior, pitched 5 1/3 innings against Miller County in a two-game series this past week. He had 14 strikeouts, gave up one hit, walked two, and at the plate he went 3-for-6 with two singles and a double.

Toombs County pitcher and catcher Joseph Owens had four hits against Dublin and Statesboro this past week, including the go-ahead home run in the seventh inning against Dublin. He also scored four runs in the two games. He got the save in both games in relief, striking out four batters in just two innings in the two games.

Trion catcher and pitcher Gavin Stivers, a senior, caught the first four innings and pitched the final seven innings in Trion’s 11-inning 7-5 win over Armuchee on Saturday afternoon. He struck out 11 batters, allowing just three hits and issuing only three walks on the mound in the game’s last seven innings. He also went 4-for-6 at the plate with one double, three RBIs, and scored one run.

East Jackson pitcher Brady Saunders led the Eagles at the plate and from the pitching mound in their 4-3 win over Central Gwinnett. He pitched six innings, striking out 11 batters, allowing just two hits, and giving up zero earned runs. At the plate, Saunders was 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored.

Fitzgerald pitcher Drake Young, a sophomore, pitched 6 1/3 innings against Irwin County, allowing just three hits, zero earned runs, striking out 11 batters in the Purple Hurricanes’ 6-1 win over the Indians this past week.

Collins Hill right fielder Logan Sokol, a sophomore, went 3-for-3 at the plate against Jackson County High School with three doubles, three RBIs, two runs scored, and he drew one walk.

Fitzgerald pitcher Gabe Grubbs, a junior, came through at the plate and on the mound in their win last week against Crisp County, striking out all six batters he faced in just two innings. At the plate, he was 2-for-3 with a home run, a single, and a walk. He drove in four RBIs and scored two runs in the Purple Hurricanes’ win.
