Will Conquerors continue to Dominate in 5A?

This season Trinity Christian won another state championship, making that four in a row as 3A state champions. The big headliner this season is the new playoff rule which resulted in Trinity Christian moving from 3A to 5A now.

Head Coach Verlon Dorminey talked with In the Game on why they made this move to 5A. After going 7-3 last season in the regular season they made the playoffs. With the rule change this year, the state champions would not be in the playoffs because of their record over other schools. The move now has them with five district games and five games they can pick at the 5A level. New schools that Trinity Christian will play are schools like Ponte Vedra and Bolles.

The district change will be something to watch for a team that has dominated 3A football for so long. The school is adapting with the changes around it. The question is, will it work? With their quarterback and running back gone, new faces are at the helm for the 5A newcomers. Austin Thomas, a backup the last two years, is the new quarterback. Marcus Crowley is the new running back this season. The receiving core is back as well as strong recruits on the defensive side.

Will Trinity Christian Academy be 5A State Champions now that they dominated 3A for so long? We will all just have to wait and see.
