Vikings Prepare for Trojan War

The Lowndes Vikings have dropped their first two region games of 2015; they lost at home two weeks ago to the Colquitt County Packers and fell last week at home to the Wildcats of Camden County.
They will have a shot at redeeming themselves in front of the Viking faithful as they take the gridiron against the Lee County Trojans in what is sure to be a shootout.
The Trojans are coming off their first loss of the season; last week, they were outgunned by the defending-champion Packers, losing 54-17.
The duel under center should be an exciting one; Lee County’s Garet Morrell (72-141, 1,335 yards, 18 TD) and Lowndes’ Austin Dixon (105-144, 1,231 yards, 16 TD) are among the elite signal-callers in Region 1-AAAAAA.
Last season, the Trojans shocked the Vikings as they cruised to a 42-30 victory in front of their home crowd in Leesburg. The defense of Lee County played a major role in last year’s win; it put the team in scoring position on two separate occasions with a fumble recovery and interception, while adding to the scoreboard with a blocked punt that was returned for a score. The Vikings will look to get their revenge on Friday night at the Concrete Palace.
