Upson-Lee’s Bentley Leads Georgia High School Football Week 9 Performers

Each Week ITG Next recognizes the best individual outings in Georgia high school football. Here are the top performers from Week 9.

Offense

Upson-Lee junior RB Ja’Quan Bentley led Georgia high school Week 9 performers and set two school records in the process, rushing for 304 yards and 6 TDs in the Knights’ 42-21 victory over Jackson.

Lowndes junior RB Jacurri “Smoke” Fleming had 16 carries for 81 yards and 2 TDs to lead the Vikings to a 43-12 homecoming victory over Dunbar last week. Fleming’s teammate Marvis Parrish had 15 carries for 112 yards and 2 TDs from his quarterback position.

Fitzgerald RB Ty Solomon had 6 carries for 91 yds and 1 rushing TD, and he added another TD reception in the Purple Hurricanes’ 48-0 win over Jeff Davis. Fitzgerald also got a sterling performance from QB Sultan Cooper, who was 9-for-16 passing with 3 TDs. Cooper added another touchdown on the ground.

Dougherty QB Kam Davis was 11-for-17 passing for 249 yards and 1 TD. He also had 16 carries for 101 yards with 3 rushing TDs, and he added 2 receptions for 30 yards. Dougherty WR Larry Lane had 6 receptions for 193 yards and a touchdown.

Berrien County RB/KR Josiah Davis had 2 rushing TDs against Cook last Friday night.

Milton senior RB Scott Moskowitz had 18 carries for 173 yards and 4 TDs to lead the Eagles to a 38-0 shutout win over Central Forsyth.

McIntosh County Academy RB JaReese Campbell had 23 carries for 103 Yards in the Buccaneers’ 21-0 win over Montgomery County.

Brooks County RB Chris Cole had 15 carries for 112 yds and 2 TDs to lead Brooks County to a win over Early County.

Defense

McIntosh County Academy LB Derrick Irons was one of the Georgia high school Week 9 top defensive performers, recording 11 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 QB hurries, 1 PBU, and 1 forced fumble to lead a shutout win over Montgomery County.

Brooks County SS Kamari Blankumsee had 7 tackles with 1 QB Sack and 3 TFL.

Lowndes senior OLB Mekhi Crawford had 6 tackles with 1 TFL, 1 QB sack, and 1 FF. Vikings freshman Coleman Lewis added 10 tackles and 1 FF in a strong defensive effort against Dunbar.

Cook DB Jakori Jones returned an interception 14 yards for a touchdown and Nick Goodwin added 2 INT in the Hornets’ 45-28 win over Berrien.

Special Teams

Berrien County junior RB/KR Josiah Davis has become a fixture among Georgia high school performers. In Week 9 he had another kickoff return for a touchdown against Cook High last Friday. That gives Davis 7 returns for a TD on the season.

Buford’s Jordan Allen had an 82-yard punt return for a TD in the Wolves’ win over Mill Creek.

North Gwinnett DB Chandler Jordan had an INT return for a TD in the Bulldogs’ win over Peachtree Ridge.

Lowndes specialist Cole Levidiotis had 3 tackles on kickoffs.

North Cobb kick returner Caleb Jenkins had a 99-yard kickoff return for a TD in the Warriors’ 45-14 win over Wheeler Friday night.

Sequoyah senior Ty Moore blocked a punt late in the game to give his team great field position, which set up the Chiefs go-ahead TD late against Creekview.

Dougherty kicker Joe Gonzales was a perfect 6-for-6 on PAT attempts and 1-for-1 on FG attempts, good for 29 yards.

Milton’s Felipe Mota nailed a 52-yard kick to set a new school record for longest field goal in school history. He also connected on 5-of-5 PAT attempts.

Buford’s Jordan Allen had an 82-yard punt return for a TD to help lead the Wolves to a 39-27 win over Mill Creek. Teammate Alijah Williams had two big special teams plays: He blocked an early FG attempt to keep the Hawks off the board in the first quarter and converted a 2-point play to extend Buford’s early lead to 8-0.
