Touchdowns, Trumpets, and Tiaras

In later years many will tell you that their years spent in high school were among the greatest of their lives.  Memories are made, bonds are formed, and special relationships are made that will last a lifetime.

We are always told to live life to the fullest.  Take advantage of every opportunity.  Never take “no” for an answer.  A soon-to-be graduate is taking each and every bit of that advice to heart.

Sabrina Bell, a senior at Coloma High School (Coloma, Mich.), was recently crowned Homecoming Queen in front of fellow students, family, and friends.  The look of joy on her face was unmistakable as she approached midfield to take pictures and acknowledge everyone in attendance.  She was even dressed in special attire for the ceremony: shoulder pads, cleats, and a bright gold Coloma Comets jersey, trimmed in forest green.

Not only is Sabrina 2015 Homecoming royalty, she is also a receiver and defensive back for the Comets’ varsity football team. Saying she keeps herself busy is quite the understatement; the final half of football to be played was end of her checklist for the evening.  Prior to the game, she completed job number three: her trumpet solo.  Aside from being named Homecoming Queen and being a member of the varsity football team, Sabrina also participates in the school’s marching band.

While the team fell that night, 21-13, to Delton Kellogg High School (Delton, Mich.), the Comets and the Coloma community can stand proud because of student-athletes like Sabrina Bell.  She takes every opportunity and does not hesitate to make the best of it.
