Sunday night it was a close call before halftime when both teams were tied with 10 points. But during the fourth quarter, the Chiefs ended up on top as they beat the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 20-31.

The Super bowl had tons of great commercials as it does every year. I decided to give my top five.

First on the list is the Pepsi commercial featuring musical artists Missy Elliot and H.E.R. When you think of visuals, what better person to have in your commercial than Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliot? She is the queen of music videos and visual effects! Add the vocals of R&B singer H.E.R., and you have a hit. Pepsi makes it on the list every year, but I really enjoyed the choreography and the outfit transitions to give a visual of the Zero Sugar Pepsi product. To add to it, the song was a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Paint it Black.”

Many commercials were giving me nostalgia with the appearance of celebrities. Cheetos had us all dancing in our living rooms when MC Hammer appeared on our TV screens with his iconic song “Can’t Touch This.” After all these years, the song is still being played by all generations. Thanks, MC Hammer, for including those pants.

I also enjoyed seeing a commercial on Katie Sowers. Last week I gave a few facts about this groundbreaking woman. Microsoft highlighted her and shared a little more of her story. As mentioned previously, Katie is the first female to coach in a Super Bowl game.

This next commercial was odd yet super funny. If you’re a big fan of actor Jason Mamoa, then you know he is well known for his role as Aquaman. He’s buff, super strong, and easy on the eyes. Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans showed Momoa in his “comfortable” stage. In the commercial, the actor took off his shoes, muscles, hair (which was really a wig), and his… muscular body?! The muscular Momoa we all know turned into a very skinny man. The visuals were a clever way of showing viewers how to get comfortable in their own homes and get comfortable financing one.

My favorite commercial from last night was the Turbo Tax commercial. The commercial was fun and filled with dancing and New Orleans style music called “bounce music.” If the company’s goal was to make you want to do your taxes at the end of the Super Bowl, then they achieved it!
