Top Class of 2022 Basketball Recruits in Florida
With the school year ending around the state, it signifies the conclusion of another academic and athletics calendar year. And while high school football and recruiting news will likely take up most of the headlines these next few months, it is never too early to start talking basketball. Below is a list of some of the top high school basketball recruits coming up for 2022 in the state of Florida. Rankings come from 247Sports’ website and only include the Top 5.
5.) Eric Dailey, power forward, IMG Academy
Dailey is currently rated as a four-star recruit and the 35th-best player in the nation, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward currently has offers from Florida, Michigan, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Florida A&M.
Dailey was named to the MaxPreps Junior All-America Team for the 2020-21 season after averaging 13 points, good for second-best on the team, and close to six rebounds and three assists per game, according to MaxPreps.
4.) Jaden Bradley, point guard, IMG Academy
Also from IMG Academy, Bradley is rated as a five-star recruit and second-best point guard in the state as of now, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-2, 178-pound senior has offers from Alabama, Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, and Kentucky. Currently, North Carolina and Kentucky sit as the two possible landing spots for Bradley.
3.) Dariq Whitehead, shooting guard, Montverde Academy
Whitehead sits as the third-best overall recruit in the state and is rated as a five-star, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound guard has offers from four schools, three of them from the SEC. The other offer is from Florida State.
In addition to his state ranking, Whitehead also ranks as the ninth-best recruit in the nation. He was one of five Montverde players to average double figures throughout this past season on the way to a national championship, according to an article by Sports Illustrated.
2.) Jarace Walker, power forward, IMG Academy
At this time, Walker is rated as a five-star recruit and ranks No.1 in the state in his position, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward currently has five college offers, which include Auburn, Houston, Ohio State, Florida State, and Maryland.
1.) Jalen Duren, center, Montverde Academy
Rated as the No.1 high school basketball player in the state by 247Sports, the 6-foot-10, 230-pound senior is a five-star recruit and currently has five college offers: Alabama, Auburn, Georgetown, Howard, and Kentucky.
In addition to his state ranking, Duren ranks as the No. 2 player overall nationally and is likely to go pro, according to 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions.
