Top 5 Finishers for 2021 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Baseball

The high school sports calendar in Florida has concluded, which means it’s now award season. Numerous athletes and coaches from all over the state have begun to get recognized over the course of the last few weeks for their accomplishments this season. Just last week, Florida Dairy Farmers released its final voting results for the 2021 Mr. Baseball Award and also Coach of the Year for the state. Below is a list of the players who finished in the Top 5 for the award.

5.) Andrew Ildefonso, RHP/INF, Archbishop McCarthy

Ildefonso helped lead the Mavericks to a 21-9 record and a state runner-up finish last season. The junior appeared in 32 games for Archbishop McCarthy and finished with a .348 average, 16 RBIs, 11 doubles and one triple. Additionally, he also took home the honors of Florida Dairy Farmers’ Class 5A Player of the Year.

4.) Cody Carwile, pitcher, Fleming Island

During his senior season, Carwile went unbeaten, posting a 12-0 record while also striking out a team-leading 121 batters, according to an article by news4jax.com . He helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 25-6 record and a state runner-up finish this past season. Carwile, like ILdefonso, was also nominated Player of the Year for his class, which was 6A. He will be continuing his baseball career at Georgia Tech University.

3.) Isaac Sewell, LHP, The First Academy

Sewell was stellar during his junior season for the Royals. The First Academy finished with a 30-1 overall record and capped off its season with the program’s first-ever state title after defeating Miami Westminster Christian in the Class 3A final. Sewell finished with a 1.32 ERA and struck out 93 batters on the way to also being named the Sentinel Player of the Year by the Orlando Sentinel after putting up an undefeated record on top of his other accomplishments.

2.) Sean Hermann, RHP, Durant

The right-handed pitcher helped lead the Cougars to a 22-6 overall record and a Class 7A state semifinals appearance back in May. Additionally, Hermann was awarded Class 7A Player of the Year by Florida Dairy Farmers after putting together some impressive numbers his senior season. He finished 9-0 and posted a 0.36 ERA along with 135 strikeouts. He will attending the University of South Florida to continue his playing career.

1.) Deric Fabian, shortstop, North Marion

Coming in at the No. 1 spot was Mr. Baseball himself, North Marion’s Deric Fabian. The senior helped guide the Colts to one of their best seasons in program history this past spring. North Marion finished with a 21-9 overall record and fell short of a state title back in May. Fabian managed to put together a .462 batting average and had a total of 13 home runs and eight doubles by season’s end. He will be attending the University of Florida to continue his playing career.
