Top 10 in Receiving Yards Nationally in 2015: Where Are They Now?

In 2015, only three wide receivers nationwide topped the 2,000-yard mark. However, none of those three receivers completely lived up to expectations at the next level. Who did? Let’s take a look at the top 10 in receiving yards in 2015 and where they are now.

10. Jacob Brown (Paradise Valley, AZ)

Jacob Brown racked up 1,747 yards and 22 TDs as a senior for the Trojans and led them to an undefeated regular season and a state title appearance. He committed to South Dakota State but did very little over his career, catching only 31 passes for 373 yards in his first three years.

9. Devin Baldwin (Cordova, CA)

Baldwin had 1,760 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in only 10 games as a senior. Despite his impressive campaign, little information is available on his football career after high school.

8. Sage Surratt (East Lincoln, NC)

Surratt scored 23 times and gained 1,772 yards as a junior. The 3-star receiver eventually committed to Wake Forest and was extremely productive, being named a 2019 Fred Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist. He was signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent but was eventually waived and released.

7. Jackson Tate (Edgewood Academy, AL)

The junior 2-star athlete caught for 1,785 yards and 25 TDs. He transferred to Park Crossing (AL) his senior year and switched to baseball at Lawson State Community College. He then transferred to Alabama, where he led the team in home runs, stolen bases, total bases, and slugging in 2021.

6. Derrion Grim (McNair, CA)

Grim burst on the scene for McNair with 1,928 yards his senior season. He gladly accepted Nebraska’s scholarship, but left the team in August of 2016. He joined Fresno State in 2017 after spending 2016 at Delta Junior College. In 3 years with the Bulldogs, he scored 7 times and caught for around 700 yards.

5. Luke Montgomery (Glendale, MO)

In 11 games, Montgomery racked up 1,936 yards and 27 TDs. He committed to Princeton but only appeared in 2 games there.

4. Michael Pittman (Oaks Christian, CA)

The benefits of Pittman’s 1,990-yard receiving year were reaped by USC, where he was named a Second Team All-American in 2019. The Colts drafted him in the second round, and he is now making huge impacts as a starting receiver.

3. Connor Berggren (West Linn, OR)

Berggren’s 2,084-yard senior season was enough for the Oregon Ducks to find a place for him on their roster. However, little happened in his football career and he now works elsewhere.

2. Alec Davidson (Lincoln Christian, OK)

Davidson caught for 2,232 yards his senior year and committed to Central Oklahoma. Davidson did well his freshman year, but an injury eventually slowed his season. He remained mainly on special teams for his sophomore year.

1. JP Shohfi (San Marino, CA)

With 2,464 yards, Shohfi led the nation in receiving yards and went to work at Yale. He was a key part of the Bulldog offense and even made a SportsCenter Top Ten play against Brown. In 2018, he was named Second Team All-Ivy League.
