Alabama high school football will see the return of a talented group of offensive linemen this season. Who are some of the state’s top names along the line of scrimmage, and what should we expect to see from them in 2022? Here is our look at the top 10 returning offensive linemen in Alabama.
1. Stanton Ramil (Thompson)
Our list of top 10 returning offensive linemen begins with this four-star prospect for the three-time defending 7A state champions. The Warriors’ primary left tackle a year ago, Ramil is coming off a junior season in which he received First Team All-State honors in Alabama high school football’s highest classification.
2. Wilkin Formby (Northridge)
Northridge’s primary right tackle a year ago, Formby is right alongside Ramil among the top 10 returning offensive linemen in Alabama high school football. Also a four-star prospect, Formby is one of the top overall names returning in Class 6A next season, regardless of position.
3. Bradyn Joiner (Auburn)
After transferring from Oxford a year ago, Joiner saw time primarily on the defensive side of the ball for Auburn, totaling 56 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Having played on both sides of the ball during his high school career, the four-star Auburn commit could return to the Tigers offensive line this season, a position he is likely to play at the next level.
4. RyQueze McElderry (Anniston)
A long-time Georgia commit, McElderry is a three-star prospect who is coming off a junior season in which he earned First Team All-State honors. Considered among the Top 30 interior offensive linemen in the 2023 class, the Anniston standout is one of the top names set to return in Class 4A this season.
5. Vysen Lang (Pike Road)
One of the state’s top offensive tackles is Lang, who saw time on both sides of the offensive line for 5A state champion Pike Road a year ago. A three-star prospect, Lang is coming off a season in which he earned First Team All-State honors.
6. Patrick Screws (Eufaula)
With Eufaula having reclassified in the offseason, you could now make the argument that Screws is the top offensive lineman in all of Class 5A. The three-star prospect is coming off an impressive 2021 junior season, one in which he received 6A Second Team All-State honors.
7. Koby Keenum (Mars Hill Bible)
For a Mars Hill Bible team that reclassified to 3A in the offseason, Keenum might be the most recognizable name from that Panthers team. A three-star prospect, Keenum is coming off a junior season in which he earned First Team All-State honors.
8. Maddox Sunderman (Bob Jones)
One of the top lineman in Class 7A returning in 2022, Sunderman will once again be the top name along Bob Jones’ offensive front. The rising senior is coming off a 2021 season in which he earned First Team All-State honors.
9. Anthony Miles (Ramsay)
One of Class 5A’s top returning names, Miles is coming off an junior season in which he was the Rams’ primary left tackle. A three-star prospect, the 6-foot-5 Ramsay standout is likely set for a big senior season.
