Football season has just begun, but don’t forget that basketball season is right around the corner. Last week we looked at Alabama’s top 5 football recruits since 2010. This week we do the same for basketball. Using rankings from the 247Sports Composite, here are the top 5 Alabama high school basketball recruits in the past dozen years.
JD Davison (Calhoun)
The highest-rated player in Alabama high school basketball since 2010 is Davison, a five-star prospect from the 2021 class out of Calhoun School. One of the nation’s top point guards in that class, Davison spent the 2021-22 college basketball season at Alabama and was recently selected with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics.
Trendon Watford (Mountain Brook)
Watford was one of the top high school basketball recruits from Alabama in the 2019 class. The five-star power forward attended Mountain Brook High School and committed to LSU, where he spent two seasons before moving on to the NBA. He is currently with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Joshua Langford (Madison Academy)
The third five-star prospect from Alabama since 2010 is Langford, one of the nation’s top shooting guards in the 2016 class out of Madison Academy. After concluding his prep career with the Mustangs, Langford went on to play five seasons at Michigan State.
John Petty (Jemison)
Petty was a highly rated four-star prospect in the 2017 class out of Jemison High School. He went on to play at Alabama, where he was one of the greatest three-point shooters in Crimson Tide history. Petty is currently with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Levi Randolph (Bob Jones)
Of the top high school basketball recruits from Alabama since 2010, the fifth highest-rated is Randolph, a four-star prospect in the 2011 class from Bob Jones High School. Randolph played collegiately at Alabama and has since seen a few notable stops professionally.
