The Last 5 No. 1 Recruits: Where are They Now?

2021: QB Quinn Ewers – Southlake Carroll (TX)  Ohio State

2020: DT Bryan Bresee – Damascus (MD)  Clemson

2019: DE Nolan Smith – IMG Academy (FL)  Georgia

2018: QB Trevor Lawrence – Cartersville (GA)  Jacksonville Jaguars

2017: DE Jaelan Phillips – Redlands East Valley (CA)  Miami Dolphins

When looking at the last five No. 1 football recruits in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, all five have continued to have success after their high school days. However, where are those five former top recruits now?

Both Jaelan Phillips and Trevor Lawrence are each in their rookie seasons in the NFL with the Dolphins and Jaguars respectively, while Nolan Smith, Bryan Bresee, and Quinn Ewers are all currently still in college. 

Looking at the 2021 season alone, Lawrence has thrown for over 1,400+ yards and seven touchdowns, while Phillips has collected 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks, both coming across six games. Smith has been the biggest standout of the group at the collegiate level this season collecting 24 tackles and 2.5 sacks across six games.
