Steinbrenner Football 2022 Team Preview

We tell you everything you need to know about the 2022 Steinbrenner football team in this preview. We take a look at roster changes and what fans can expect from the team this season.

2021 Stats

  • Overall Record: 7-4
  • Points Scored: 256
  • Points Allowed: 262

Key Losses

Arguably the biggest loss for the Warriors comes on defense in Colin Bernstein, a linebacker who lead Steinbrenner a year ago in total tackles with 123. Keenan Cruz was also a prominent tackler who has since moved on. A few other notable names are gone from the Warriors’ defense, including Zion Long, Jeremiah Henley, and Jonathan Adcock.

On offense, the Warriors’ biggest losses come at wide receiver position with Austin Kubel and Jayden Davis, and quarterback Griffin Wiltse has also moved on. Both Kubel and Davis ranked among Steinbrenner’s top receivers a year ago, combining for 700+ yards and eight touchdowns.

Who’s Back

Steinbrenner returns a number of key players on offense, with arguably none bigger than running back Kirby Vorhees, who rushed for 1,074 yards and 15 touchdowns a year ago. Rising junior Ty Robinson returns at quarterback, and leading receiver Demitrius Carter and Andrew Brinson are back as well.

Defensively, the Warriors’ top pass rusher, William Miller, returns, as do a pair of top tacklers in Christian Gerhardt and Joshua Doan. Other key returnees include Adrian Hill, Sabe Valentin, Lee Woodward, and Edward Davis.

What to Expect

Steinbrenner got off to a slow start in the 2021 campaign, but was able to use a strong second half to make a playoff appearance. Having moved into a strong Florida Class 4M-Region 2, could the Warriors make another playoff appearance? It’s certainly possible. Expect them to contend for a playoff spot in 2022, with the running game being one of the team’s biggest strengths.

Prediction

Steinbrenner will win seven games this season, and make a playoff appearance.
