Power in Numbers: Valiants Handle Business in Camilla

Size matters.  And on Thursday night in Camilla, the Valwood Valiants (Hahira, Ga.) made that clear as they pounded their way to a 34-12 win over the Westwood Wildcats.

The game was played a day early due to a scheduling conflict; a matchup between Baconton Charter and Mitchell County is slated for Friday night.  Timing didn’t change anything for the Valiants, who blew the game open late with short, punishing scores.

Valwood was led by two scores on the ground by senior running back Jack Helms and two touchdowns by senior quarterback Jake Parker.  Sophomore running back Sam Martin added an impressive 75-yard touchdown run, as the Valiants used the second half to stretch their 14-6 halftime lead.

The final margin had the opportunity to be much larger, but three Valwood touchdowns were rescinded due to various penalties.  Overall, they totaled 578 yards of offense, including 327 on the ground.

The Valiants (6-1, 3-0 in GISA Region 3-AAA) will return home next week (10/16) when they face off against the of Eagles of Terrell Academy (Dawson, Ga.).

  1. Great story! There should also be coverage of the Camilla v/s Baconton game. Camilla out scored Baconton 42 to 0 in a shut out!! The win was lead by Senior, defense tackle, Quintin Sanders. Quintin plays well on both sides of the ball, but DT is where he’s most comfortable. Please feel free to check out his highlights on Hudle.com
