Playoff Basketball Invades the Complex

Valdosta State University will host the second night of the two-night GHSA Class A (Public) State Playoffs tonight at the Complex. For the first time since 2006, the Blazers will put on part of the state tournament, and if the first night is any indication, you won’t want to miss any of the weekend’s action.

On Thursday night, Turner County was well represented, as the Lady Rebels took a 56-42 win over Telfair County. In the second girls’ game of the evening, the Wheeler County Lady Bulldogs won a close contest against Treutlen. On the boys’ side, the early game featured Treutlen’s boys; the Vikings edged the Hawkinsville Red Devils by a score of 62-55. Later in the evening, the Wilkinson County Warriors dominated Lincoln County en route to a 76-39 victory.

Friday’s action will feature girls’ semifinal matchups of Calhoun County vs. Terrell County and Taylor County vs. Greenville. On the boys’ side, Turner County will face Calhoun County, and Hancock Central will square off against Taylor County.

If you’re in the area, be sure to check out the best that Class A has to offer!
