Parrish, Battle, Neal among Georgia High School Week 11 Top Performers

There were many great performances across the state, but we’ve picked out the plays and players we believe were among the best and most impactful for their Georgia high school teams in Week 11. Here are the top 5 performances on offense, defense and special teams.

Offense

Lowndes QB Marvis Parrish led the Vikings offense with 139 yards rushing and 2 rushing TDs to go along with 150 yards passing and 2 more TDs in the Vikings’ big Georgia high school Week 11 win over Richmond Hill.

Buford RB Justice Haynes had 5 carries for 172 yards and 2 TDs plus a 47-yard reception to lead the Buford offense in the Wolves’ win over Mountain View.

Colquitt County sophomore RB Day’Shawn Brown had 2 rushing TDs to lead the Packers to a 24-6 win over Valdosta that clinched the Region 1-7A title.

Langston Hughes RB Jakail Middlebrooks ran for 4 TDs to lead his team to a 54-point win (68-14) over South Paulding to secure the Region 5-6A championship.

Worth County QB Chip Cooper was 22-for-29 with 293 yards passing and 2 TDs against Sumter. Cooper also had 13 carries for 102 yards and 2 more scores to lead the Rams offense.

Defense

Lowndes DL Jayden Battle had 4 tackles, including 3 TFL, to go along with 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery to lead a dominant effort from the Vikings D-line against region opponent Richmond Hill.

Colquitt County senior Lyric Thomas snagged 2 INT against Valdosta.

Packers DL Nick Pace had a QB sack and 2 TFL to lead the Colquitt defense. According to head coach Sean Calhoun, Pace and his defensive teammates held Valdosta to just 150 yards total offense (unofficially).

Westlake junior Christian Peterson had an 80-yard INT return for a TD in the Lions’ win over East Coweta.

Special Teams

Buford junior DB Jaylen Neal scooped up a blocked FG attempt and ran it back 84 yards for a TD in the Wolves’ 56-7 win over Mountain View.

Marietta’s Nakari Ashley blocked a 50-yard FG attempt by Harrison in the 1st quarter of their region matchup. Blue Devil teammate Isaiah Sanders scooped up the loose ball and returned it for a 65-yard TD.

Fitzgerald CB DJ Brown blocked a punt attempt by Cook early in the third quarter.

Gainesville senior WR/KR Darius Cannon had a 99-yard kick return for a TD to help lead the Red Elephants to a big 34-21 Georgia high school Week 11 win over North Forsyth. Cannon also caught a 69-yard TD pass.

Parkview K Carlos Munoz kicked FGs of 53 yards and 52 yards to go along with 3 PATs for the Panthers.
