Nixon, Wilcher Headline Florida High School Football Week 9 Performances

We highlight the best individual performances in Week 9 of the Florida high school football season.

Jayce Nixon (Gaither)

Nixon, a sophomore, completed 23-of-29 passes for 409 yards and 5 touchdowns in Gaither’s 41-35 win over Durant. He also rushed for a season-high 63 yards on 10 attempts.

Will Prichard (Santaluces)

Prichard helped Santaluces remain unbeaten in the 2022 Florida high school football season with a Week 9 41-0 win over Royal Palm Beach last Tuesday night. He completed 19-of-30 passes for 332 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Kenari Wilcher (Moore Haven)

Wilcher had a monster game in Moore Haven’s 62-28 win over Southwest Florida Christian last Monday night, catching 5 passes for 170 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also made 5 tackles on defense. Just three nights later, he had another impressive showing with 5 receptions for 210 yards and a touchdown in the Terriers’ 42-19 loss to Gulf Coast. Wilcher also made a big impact on defense in that contest with 8 tackles.

Henry Boyd (Moore Haven)

Boyd, the quarterback throwing all those passes to Wilcher, completed 9-of-12 attempts for 263 yards and 5 touchdowns in his team’s 62-28 victory over Southwest Florida Christian.

Austin Simmons (Pahokee)

Simmons completed 20-of-27 passes for 203 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 26-13 win over Charlotte.

Wesley Jean (Golden Gate)

Jean rushed for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns on 17 attempts in Golden Gate’s 47-10 win over Bonita Springs.

Luke Warnock (Cardinal Newman)

In helping Cardinal Newman remain unbeaten at 9-0, Warnock completed 9-of-14 passes for 191 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Crusaders blanked Sports Leadership & Management 62-0.

Dante Turner (Mount Dora)

Turner rushed for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns on 21 attempts in Mount Dora’s 44-20 win over Tavares.

Mark Fletcher (American Heritage)

Fletcher rushed for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns on 33 attempts in the Patriots’ 35-17 win over Naples.

Keveun Mason (Lake Placid)

Mason rushed for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns on 27 attempts in Lake Placid’s 22-16 win over Okeechobee, while also collecting a tackle and PD on defense.

Tayshaun Balmir (Pasco)

Balmir accounted for both touchdowns in Pasco’s 14-0 win over Crystal River, while also rushing for 158 yards on 8 attempts.

Jace Grant (Aucilla Christian)

Grant rushed for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 attempts in Aucilla Christian’s 21-7 win over Bell. Grant also caught a pass and made 8 tackles.

Rueben Bain (Miami Central)

One of the top pass rushers in Florida high school football, Bain’s Week 9 outing included 4 sacks in the Rockets’ 42-35 win over Miami Columbus.

DeeJay Holmes (Pahokee)

Holmes, who ranks among Florida high school football’s sack leaders, added 13 tackles, 5 TFL, 3 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble in Pahokee’s 26-13 win over Charlotte.

Tracker Thomaston (Freeport)

Thomaston was everywhere in Freeport’s 52-35 loss to Baker, compiling 24 tackles, 12 of which were solo, as well as 1 TFL.

Waden Charles (Somerset Academy-Canyons)

Charles had 7 receptions for 136 yards, as well as 6 tackles and an interception, in the Cougars’ 47-14 loss to Somerset Academy.
