When people are challenged to own up to their words, beliefs, or bragging, they are often told to “put their money where their mouth is.”
In recent developments with a Michigan high school, it has been made apparent that local businesses will have an opportunity to put their money…on the floor.
Port Huron Northern High School began a campaign in February 2015 with hopes of raising $120,000 to fund a new floor for the campus gymnasium. Coinciding with the school’s 50th anniversary, the campaign states that contributing businesses will be able to place a 3-by-5-foot advertisement on the gym floor upon completion.
By September 2015, the school had already raised $75,000 toward their goal. And in February 2016, merely one year after the initiation of the project, the entire funding goal has been reached. Many local residents and businesses were eager to assist, stating that they owe the Port Huron Area School District this generosity because of its importance to the community and students both past and present.
Jason Kasparian, Port Huron Northern High School athletic director and assistant principal, said the new floor should be completed by the end of summer 2016. According to various reports, any excess funding after the gym floor’s completion will be used toward any other necessary updates or equipment for the gym.
