Senior Luke Haley, one of the top players for a Newsome team that reached the regional final round of the 2A state lacrosse playoffs, is our ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for April, receiving a total of 36.36% of the votes.
One of Florida’s leaders in goals with 87 for the year, Haley posted a phenomenal senior season for the Wolves. Averaging four goals per game, Haley also posted 43 assists for Newsome this season, with his total points for the year amounting to an impressive 130, or 5.9 per game.
If those numbers weren’t impressive enough, Haley also collected 109 ground balls, or five per game, as well as totaling 29 takeaways for the season overall. His season culminated in a special month of April, when he played a key role in Newsome’s postseason run. In eight April games, Haley accounted for 35 total goals for the Wolves, 16 assists, 52 ground balls and 19 takeaways.
Additionally, Haley shined in a few other statistical categories in April, including season-highs in goals (seven vs Durant), ground balls (11 vs Mitchell) and takeaways (three), a mark that he went on to match three more times that month. Haley also tied his season-high in assists (four) near the beginning of the month and went on to match that total toward the end of April as well.
Congratulations to Newsome’s Luke Haley, our ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month.
