We tell you everything you need to know about the 2025 Lowndes High School football team in this preview, including roster changes and what fans can expect from the Vikings this season.
2024 Season Stats
- Overall Record: 10-2
- Points Scored: 416
- Points Allowed: 186
Key Roster Losses
The Lowndes defense was hit the hardest by graduation, but the offense did not come away unscathed.
“We lost all but five touchdowns on offense, and 10-of-11 starters on defense,” said Adam Carter, Lowndes head football coach.
Among the biggest losses from last year’s 10-win team is quarter back and running back Marvis Parrish, who moved primarily to RB last season and had 928 yards rushing with 21 TDs. He also was an effective receiver with 396 yards and four TD receptions in 2024.
Running back Aalim Brown will not return, nor will receivers Jaylin Carter and Aidan Sefa. Those players accounted for 45 TDs combined last season.
Key members not returning on defense include the team’s top three tacklers in 2024: free safety Tre Thomas, strong safety Landen Wright, and linebacker Lorenzo Muneton.
Key Players Returning
It’s not as if the cupboard is bare at the Concrete Palace heading into 2025.
One of the state’s top quarterbacks is back in Jayce “Juice” Johnson. The junior completed 68% of passes for right at 1,800 yards with 16 TDs through the air in 2024. He also added 318 rushing yards and three TDs on the ground last season.
Johnson will be paired with wideout Kaevone Thomas, who made an impression last season as a freshman. Thomas already has offers from a handful of major college programs.
Look for athlete Zion Walker to see plenty of time this year playing at several positions for the Vikings.
A bright spot for Lowndes in 2025 is the offensive line, which returns six contributors from last season. That includes Abram Eisenhower, who will line up at offensive tackle.
A player to watch in 2025 is Malik Roman, who was ITG Next’s South Georgia Middle School Player of the Year in 2023. The standout, two-way freshman is likely to see playing time this season, especially on defense.
What to Expect From the Lowndes Vikings in 2025
“2025 will be a challenge,” Carter said. “We are looking for a strong campaign this season, but 2025 will depend on how quickly we mature. … Every day is a learning experience and something new for a group with few Friday night reps.”
It’s important to remember that Carter took this team from a four-win squad two years ago to a 10-win team in 2024 with a return to the playoffs.
This 2025 Lowndes team will have one of the state’s best dual-threat QBs running the offense. I believe a team is as good as its QB is, and Lowndes has a really good one leading them this year.
A fast start to the season with six of their first seven games at home is important.
2025 Season Prediction
Lowndes will surprise us in 2025. I see them going 9-4 with a couple of playoff wins.
