When most people think of an athlete, they probably envision someone six- foot-tall, covered in muscles from the neck down and someone who is … young. But Harriette Thompson, a 94-year-old cancer survivor, defies this stereotype of what it means to be an athlete. A few weeks ago on June 5th Harriette became the oldest woman to finish a half marathon at the San Diego Rock’ n’ Roll Marathon. Two years earlier Harriette became the oldest woman to finish a marathon at the same race. Here at In The Game Sports Network we believe there is an inner athlete inside everyone, Harriette is truly what it means to live in the game.
