We tell you everything you need to know about the 2022 Lincoln football team in this preview. We take a look at roster changes and what fans can expect from the team this season.

2021 Stats

Overall Record: 9-3

Points Scored: 329

Points Allowed: 228

Key Losses

For a Lincoln offense that averaged over 30 PPG a year ago, the Trojans are tasked with replacing starting quarterback Perry Fisher, who accounted for 2,000+ all-purpose yards and 27 touchdowns. A few of Lincoln’s top receivers have also moved on as well, including Christian Duquetoro, Cedric Madry Jr, and Jalen Oliver.

The Trojans’ defense also has to replace a couple of notable contributors in Omarion Laroach and Terrell Dudley, both of whom were among Lincoln’s leading tacklers a year ago. Other Lincoln defenders who have moved on include Devon’a Brown, Rohan Goulbourne, Robert Wilson, Tamari Wright, and Mandrell Lewis.

Who’s Back

Undoubtedly the name to know for Lincoln entering the 2022 season is Raylen Wilson, a four-star prospect and recent Georgia commit who’s considered one of the top linebackers in the state. Wilson is likely to lead the Trojans in tackles again this season. Other returning defenders include DB Jermaris Speights, as well as rising sophomore Chancy Jordan.

On offense, Lincoln returns a talented running back group comprised of Fredrick Alexander Jr., Demetric Stephens, and Joseph Sobeski, along with quarterback Ayden Fryar, who saw time at the position a year ago. In the receiving game, the Trojans’ biggest name returning is Juvon Pettway, who was one of Lincoln’s top wideouts a year ago.

What to Expect

The Trojans should have a talented team again in 2022, thanks in part to the presence of Wilson, one of the state’s best linebackers. However, the offense may actually be the biggest talking point for Lincoln, with the Trojans expected to be solid on that side of the ball on the strength of a deep and talented running back group.

Expect Lincoln to return to the playoffs in 2022, and for the Trojans to potentially make a deeper run this season than they did a year ago.

Prediction

Lincoln will win eight games, and make a playoff appearance.
